He mentioned in a private chat that he is more open to taking them in the tournament/win or go home games. He believes in character building and “play harder/play better”. I’m not saying he’s right or wrong. I’m telling you what he told a group of folks in chat. He’ll do it if the season is on the line but in the regular season/conference tournament he isn’t going to bail out what he thinks is lazy or bad play.

That’s just CYA talk. He doesn’t know how to do it when the NCAAT comes. A poster already mentioned the UCLA and SDSU games…he honestly doesn’t have the muscle memory to know what to do.

The all time great coaches coach every game the same…we had a football coach who did that just recently.

Yeah maybe. I was at that SDSU game and I had a top 2 crashout I’ve ever had so that definitely wasn’t ideal.

We’ll see in the tournament. I’m just the messenger.

Were you “try to to get into a fight with a shite talking Princeton fan” mad?

That and the FSU football game this year were the two times in all my sports life that I was like “I got bail money”.

And I’m a Raiders fan too so that’s saying a lot.

Yeah I have heard him answer that question with why am I going to call timeout to tell them to play harder. I would like to see the reporter follow up with “if you think they aren’t playing hard then you call timeout to bench them and put someone in that WILL play harder.

3 seed 4 seed pumpkin seed turnipseed....doesn't matter. This team could be out round 1 or make 2nd weekend. That's it. No dogs on this team. I mean Sherrell had a block on a dunk, had little white guard knock it out of his hands on a rebound, and he then couldn't do enough to draw a foul with 3 secs left. Defense just isn't good enough, and Oats doesn't use time outs. The list could go on.

Anyhow yall. Tonight sucks. All our flaws showed up at once and it seems the players took it as much for granted as we did.

But I’ll trade this embarrassment for a decent tournament run, and we’ve been there before.

I think we can beat just about any team on a great night and we can lose to just about any team on a bad night so let’s see how many good games we can put together.

I agree with you. And im probably the biggest Oats stan in the world. The TO could be to bench their arse if nothing else.

Alas, I’m riding with Oats because it’s better than anything else I’ve seen in 35 years of fandom.

Hopefully this team can make a S16. Not that I'm not grateful for just making the NCAAT - I am. Growing up with Gottfried, Grant, and Avery, I'll always be happy to make it. But it's more of the fact that I'd like to see this team play to their potential with having such a deep back court.

Our wins against St Johns and Illinois had me believing this team could seriously make some noise in the tournament. Still could but they haven't played at that level since the first half of the Arizona game. Just wish they could go back to that team.

was at the FSU game too, but no, I try to avoid jail at all costs.

Mad for me typically means analytically screaming why our coaches and certain player decisions (and refs) sucked.

They hit a lot of tough shots. You have to tip your hat. At the same time, don’t think we had the intensity at the start of the game we needed.

they did but were also given plenty of easy looks. the three small guard starting lineup weve been using has consistently been a net negative against any team with a real coach. once they move sherrell out of the way the issues become way too abundant. on the plus side bowen seemed to be moving much better. hopefully he can now be closer to what he was to start the season. noah gave surprisingly good effort as well.

Same here. Been following since the Leon Douglas years. Unfortunately it seems to always end in disappointment. Oats’ recruiting gives us hope it might be different but it never is. Until he figures out you might need to sacrifice a bigs ability to shoot the three for one that can rebound I don’t see it changing.

Dude…we gotta coordinate and not be at games together obviously.

I’ve been at great wins and bad losses and it’s all in the game but those two games specifically really had a werewolf effect on me.

I knew FSU fans were pricks but I was caught off guard by getting heat with Princeton. Haha

There are 13 teams that are almost certainly higher than us. The next ones we are competing with are:

Vandy
Arkansas
Kansas
St. John’s

We have to beat out 2 of those 4 to stay a 4 seed. I think we can beat out St. John’s due to their NET and our H2H, but the other 3 may not go our way unless someone loses in bad fashion (Kansas right now needs to lose big to UH, Vandy get blown out by FL tomorrow, or Arky lose to OU tonight or Ole Miss tomorrow). We’re at legit risk of a 5 seed if all three win their next game and Arky wins 2.

Lol, no they didn’t. Alabama is the Philon show and that’s it. They have maybe the worst front court in the SEC.

i could still see winning it all or losing in the first round. neither would surprise me with this roller coaster of a team.

We’ve blown the chance at the 3 seed so whether we are a 4 or 5 is irrelevant to me. We’ll have to beat a good mid major at either spot.

Nate Oats is a great coach but these two were bad evaluations. Ugly.

Largely agree, but 12 seeds are generally materially better than 13s, not that 13s don’t win games sometimes. Pretty sure 12s are 10-15% higher chance of upset if I’m remembering the %s correctly
