I guess I’m sorta in between you two. My first Bama quarterback is Jeff’s older brother, Gary Rutledge.

I worked/coached with Tommy’s son, Rocky at Sylacauga. Rocky was a manager for the football program at UA and was tasked with cleaning out Coach Bryant’s locker, soon after Coach retired and then passed. Sadly, we lost Rocky in April of ‘24. He was visiting with his mom in Gordo when he tragically passed. Miss my friend!

You think we have more money than Ohio State? The same Ohio State with the $20MM plus roster that won them the title before Rev share?

I also don’t think Smith or Russaw are any where close to irreplaceable. If anything we may have got better because James Smith killed us multiple times with dumbass penalties on 3rd down when we had a stop. He single handily kept FSU’s first drive going. That game could have went so differently if we get a stop and score after their first drive and go up 14-0.

Pierre is the only DL that would sting because he brings a skill set that no one else has shown.

I went to high school with the Rutledge brothers. Gary was in the class ahead of me; Jeff was three classes behind me. Both great guys.

Assuming Pierre is not going to the draft, we lost almost nothing in production. Thompkins is at worst a draw with Smith.

If Latham comes back we're super fine. If not I think Hill was already making it hard to believe Russaw was staying on the edge if he wanted starter snaps in 2026. I assume the staff would certainly loved to keep Russaw for what we thought he was worth. Ohio State thought he was worth more and told him a fit he liked better (I assume he will play edge there and not be moving WLB or MLB).

I'm more worried about the fact that Renaud is the only proven production we have at the SDE position. I think he has promise but we probably need two guys to rotate with him. May need a freshman to contribute there.

Indiana has an older roster age than an NFL playoff team (GB Packers)

Jimmy Stein just said we are in the final group for Damon Wilson knowing he will cost $2 mil

Wilson is 250ish right? Wouldn't he be more of our edge position like Pierre or Hill than the strong side end position like Overton?

Hopefully this doesn't mean we're losing Pierre to the draft or portal.

Perhaps we’re bumping up the price to bleed other teams’ pockets.

I see some people say they'd like Sabb gone but I just feel like more snaps of experience goes for a lot in college these days. You just hope that eventually that experience reaches a breakthrough point where they really elevate their play.

Latham is a 5-tech like Renaud and Edrik Hill got snaps there as well (and as a 3 and a 4). Hill is versatile and really hoping to get Latham back….if that comes to fruition then they should be fine there:

5-tech: Latham/Renaud
3-tech: USC transfer/ Beaman (I think he’s really special)
Shade: Simmons/ MSU transfer/Faga

- Edrik Hill can give you snaps at the 3,4 and 5 techniques. That’s pretty solid imo.

Then of course you have Pierre and Hill as the 2-deep at the Edge/7-technique
