Yeah, my problem with the screens was always when we'd call them. Yes, a future first round WR in Cooper made plays, but he's Amari Cooper.

And to switch gears a bit, defensively we didn't adjust to screens Against A&M? Nope. They killed us with the wide open screens because we played so far off. Never adjusted.

In the second half of the Sugar Bowl we DID adjust, finally, but the offense that showed up in the first half when the D didn't disappeared when the D came to the party.

The problem wasn't screens. The problem was Nuss. Screens have their place in a game plan, but you have to add other wrinkles for the offense to be successful. Fake the screen and go deep or throw it to the TE.

"Look at how great Nuss is at adjusting the offense to exploit the defense" said no Bama fan ever.

Bingo and you can where I said this earlier. We almost never looked like we game planned for an opponent or adjusted we simply ran plays.

Per BOL, Tony Brown split time with Eddie Jackson in first team base

If only he was pushing Cyrus Jones out instead

Holy heck that is a nice combo, they will have growing pains but we are halfway through the schedule before we come across a decent passing team.

dude, it's spring practice. no need to be ragging on guys like Cyrus Jones. players improve. that's what practice is for. you dont need to say something negative about a player for doing a good job at practice and improving. it just makes your opinion mean less when you actually have something legitimate to say.

Is it not okay to form opinions based on past performance? That is all we have right now. Kind of like talking about Yeldon's fumbles when he technically hasn't fumbled this season.

No. Because I remember how BOL posters were talking about how Star Jackson would push JPW out of the starting QB position by the start of the Clemson game. I also remember how fans loved to rag on Marquis Johnson for his poor DB play in 2008, only to say they never doubted him when he broke out in 2009.

To get technical I think the poor play for Johnson was in 2007, we didn't see him much at all until 2009 but he did great against Jeffery. The point is though you are exactly right, young corners are going to get burned. Tony Brown will, Marlon Humphrey will, Minkah Fitzpatrick will, judging Cyrus for that isn't particularly fair.

i mean, it is what it is, bro. our fans are going to rag on some of our players. i get it. sometimes it's warranted, other times it's not. i just think some guys get unfairly criticized and i dont think now is the time to be poo-pooing on our players.

THIS.

years ago i hated on Milliner during and after his freshman season. i've got a bunch of buddies from Stan Hope and i would be in their ear every time Dee gave up a completion. but players get better, and i realized i was stupid for bad mouthing the kid.

Rag on any player you want. Cyrus Jones sucked last year. If he is a lot better than props to him, but that doesn't change the fact that he sucked.

i'm not the message board police. you can have your opinions and i can think they're stupid, and vice versa.

if you bad mouth a kid and i think its unfair or stupid, i'm probably gonna refute your opinion. And thats how we get through the offseason.

Refute actual proof in games with spring practices?

His performance last year was beyond terrible. He was out of position, out-physicaled, and just plain burned most of the time. To blindly accept that he will get better after a year in the system is naive at best. Fulton never got better. Cy Jones didn't show any improvements from beginning of the season to end. I don't doubt that he is a practice warrior. I just doubt that he can produce when needed.

I'll happily eat crow if I'm wrong, but right now I'd rather see almost any of the young corners out there instead of him.

In Cyrus Jones's defense, he was playing a completely new position. The athleticism was there, just not the savvy.

But we have no idea if he will get better until they play an actual game, so all we have to go off of is what took place last season.

Probably his worst game of the year was against Auburn, our 2nd to last game all season.

True. But I'm not going to punch the kid in the face like some of you like to do.

yeah, yall are saying he sucks and shouldnt be playing. but i say that him being with the first team in practice discredits your opinion. others pointed out that CBs typically improve after their first year, which further discredits your opinion.

sorry if you dont like bama fans supporting bama players.

I agree with you grundy. He was thrust into the situation after playing WR for a whole year, arguably his most formidable year at that, and its not like he has freakish measurables for a corner.

I dont mind opinions, but I also don't mind saying that certain opinions suck.
