Saw a lot of changes while in Tuscaloosa this past weekend. Learned about a lot more changes coming. This Trinity Project at I-20/59, McFarland, and Skyland looks interesting. That part of Tuscaloosa needs redevelopment badly.

My aunt lives near that area(she's close to Woodland Forrest), and she claims it has been going downhill since they built that Walmart in the early 90's. She despises Walmart though, so she may be biased. She drives out to the Publix down on 69 for her grocery shopping.

The just built a Wal Mart grocery store last year to add insult to her injury

I know. When they re-routed that intersection, she was convinced they were building a Publix where the Hyundai dealership is. I wish I could have been there when she found out that Walmart was going up.
Not sure why she doesn't just move.

From I've been reading it looks like that area will get a similar intersection design. Along with redevelopment. South Tuscaloosa looks to have some major changes coming.

quote:If it makes her feel any better the new Wal Mart grocer sucks major arse. I started going back to the Winn Dixie in 5 points. It is much, much better

My favorite bar, Willhagan's, has a new owner.

Well the proposes parking garage on Temerson isn't going to happen. Kinda pissed off about it too.

why not? Link
ETA: Found it
LINK
The article doesn't give much detail as to why. The city agreed to pay $1.5M, but they couldn't get the numbers to work. The developer probably wanted more money. I'm sure they can find a developer that can make it work, but nepotism and politics will likely kill the hope of that happening

Tuscaloosa is soon getting a Walk Ons

I wonder where they will put it. Doesn't seem like World of Beer is coming
ETA: Just checked out their menu. Thought it would be just a knockoff Baumhowers, but their menu looks way better. Damn, can't wait. They probably should put it in Mid-Town where Victory Grill was.

Suggestions on a place to take friends to lunch tomorrow? Seems like there are new places opening all the time. We're all open to anything, and would like a beer or cocktail. Thinking Avenue Pub, but been there a bunch already. Is their other place good? Costa Mesa or whatever it's called?

Pub is a good choice. I like Ms. Dot's. Can't go wrong with Moe's either. So many good choices downtown

I almost put a disclaimer that I live in Bham and can get Moe's, Dot's, Taco Mama, and a few other places here. Looking for something unique to Tuscaloosa.
Think we're going to check out the new Mexican place the folks from Avenue Pub opened recently.

Central Mesa(downtown)
Southern Ale House(north of the river)
Dotson's Burger Spot(downtown)
Heat(downtown-govt plaza)
If y'all are eating lunch and spending the day in Tuscaloosa, I'd stay downtown then you can walk to Black Warrior Brewery & Loosa Brews after lunch.
