A couple of people think that the owner may renovate and put in some lofts/condos in that building.

I heard there will be a Hawaiian style restaurant going in on the strip where Pieology use to be. With all the Hawaiian football players we will have on the team, I guess it could work

Ms. Dot's has .80 cent whole wings. If they knew how to market it, they could control that whole market

I had no idea they had that. Their spicy chicken is pretty damn good.

Where will this be? They are making downtown so damned cool. If I were single I'd definitely be living there

I wonder what spot will it be in. The old 4th & 23rd spot or the old Fry House spot?

ETA: Opening on Monday the 28th. Looks like it is in the old Fry House spot. I will try it out because I am a burger whore.

This is cool. I would love to see us emulate some things like Greenville

I will keep saying this, all Tuscaloosa needs to do now is attract about a 1000 white collar jobs down town. Here is how you do it. In one of those middle blocks downtown that is located between Wallace north and south bound, build an commercial office. Give the owner of the building a tax break and encourage him to offer low rent leases to business willing to relocate a few hundred jobs here. If you can attract about 10-20 different business that have 50-100 employees in the office, you'd get it filled. Being that the downtown area is becoming more attractive to the younger crowd, more of these people will rent apartments, lofts and condos in those areas and spend more money there since all the amenities of living are close and convenient.

Dotson's opened today. It is le-fricking-git. I'm a burger whore so I have an inherent bias I admit. Nice selection of burgers, mixed drinks, shakes and such. They are trying to figure out their crowds right now and work out the bugs before next weekend. They will be staying open late on Friday and Saturday nights which will be money makers for them imo.

Dotson's is the same folks that do Southern Ale House, right? I really wanted to like SAH, but after 4-5 visits it was just too inconsistent. But I will check out Dotson's.

I've recently been spending a considerable amount of time in Tuscaloosa and just discovered Edelweiss. I knew it was there but had just never stopped in. The lady that runs it is so welcoming and friendly, and the pastries are top notch.

I'm not sure, but I like SAH I only had one bad visit, not that I go very often. If I were you I'd wait until mid September to visit since they are still working out some kinks.

Man I have always thought SAH was solid. Love their pickle burger.

It was solid on a couple of my visits, but one was pretty bad, and one or two others were just okay. So really my only complaint is its inconsistency.

Oddly, the two solid visits were both for Sunday lunch/brunch. The other visits were dinner during the week. Maybe just a coincidence?

Also saw some ground being moved on the Jack Warner By Pass on the other side of the river. Not sure what it is, but looks big.
