Yeah, he's going to be a mis-match all season long...I'm very excited about this team.

I'd like to see how much Jai can grasp the defense before we put him on the field. I could see him getting in the mix at Money, but I'm not really sold on anyone other than HaHa/LC26 starting. We're so deep everywhere....

Apparently he is pretty smart. I cant imagine that it will be too terribly difficult for him to grasp the defense. JMO

I really don't think Jai Miller will see the field

Disagree. The guy is mature, mentally and physically. He's a professional athlete, already acclimated to the grind of working hard through out a season. Many of the guys who sign with MLB directly out of highschool have a stipulation in their contract that will pay for their college, should they choose to go back.

Which means two things:
He doesn't count toward our scholly cap
And he's not just out there screwing around.

I missed it but a couple days ago Ryan Kelly stated in an interview that Cristobal asked him about playing tackle:

quote:

"I can’t honestly speak on that, because … Cristobal told me yesterday, he asked if I was ready to play tackle," said Kelly, who will be a third-year sophomore this fall.

quote:

"I haven’t played tackle since my senior year in high school," said Kelly, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound product of Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio.

Not sure what to make of that. Who would take his place at Center? Right tackle or left tackle? Does CMC think his size and skills translate better to tackle than a center?

At any rate, Kelly was at Center today during the media viewing portion of practice.

Perhaps he meant in an emergency backup role if the shite were to hit the fan with a lot of injuries?

Here is the news from Friday’s practice:

– Injured cornerback John Fulton was running faster than he was on Wednesday, almost sprinting. There is no official word on Fulton’s status going forward, but he seems to be much further along than wide receiver Kevin Norwood, who is also battling with a toe injury.

– Practice today seemed to be more geared towards game situations and game speed. The quarterbacks were practicing playaction drops and throwing on the run, while the running backs were moving from drill-to-drill quicker than usual.

– Linebacker Denzell Devall was seen moving from the contact drills with the outside linebackers to the coverage drills. This move was often pulled by C.J. Mosley during the fall, so it looks as if Devall’s role in the defense is growing for the time being.

According to TideSports:

*Starting OL as of now is Kouandjio, Kouandjio, Kelly, Steen, and Shepherd.

*Starting DL is Stinson, Ivory, and Pagan. Tomlinson and Fanning will contribute as pass rush subs, but are still searching for a strong run game sub. Coaches expect no drop off on the DL.

*Amari Cooper is amazing, has embarrassed experienced players.

*Jalston Fowler is starting to show his explosiveness again.

*Reggie Ragland, Chris Black, and Jarrick Williams are having great springs so far.

*Kurt Freitag, Leon Brown, and Dakota Ball are having bad springs so far.

Cooper is gonna go down as a top five PLAYER all time for us. Another year with McCannon and then the year after that he'll have a first year starter, but should have an experience OL and plenty of help.

What's crazy (and not even fair) is that no defense on the schedule can afford to double team him. KB7 is just as much a deep threat, White demands respect, and Black/Howard will too after a few games. If McCarron doesn't throw for 3000 they tried to keep him under it, there's just no way a QB that good can not do it with the weapons he has and even more control of the offense.

I can't stop fappin.

RBs doing work, I suggest watching it and then going back and watching the first RB video of the spring. Henry has shown visible improvement.

Also, at 1:08 in the video you hear someone telling someone to shut the hell up.

Great video... I love seeing Coach Burns pushing those guys.

ETA: A 1/2 punch of Yeldon/Drake looks to be pretty sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am really excited to see Kenyan Drake this year. Most of the talk has been about Henry, but I think Drake will surprise a lot of people, especially people outside the Bama fan base. We already know Yeldon is gonna do his thing. TJ looks to be running lower than he did last year. Derrick Henry has some work to do, but that is to be expected.
