It's not a fire Grant thread without a Buckeye bump.

Can we create an app that will automatically bump this thread every time Bama plays?

Who are we going to hire??? I am all for firing him if his replacement will be better, but some of you just call for coaches to be fired for off season entertainment.

pretty sure there are some hot stud assistant coaches out there if the Shaka Smart's of the world won't come.

I want Smart or Pearl. If that isn't an option maybe Saban can coach bball.

2 at the top of the list
Ben Howland and Bruce Pearl
Gregg Marshall who is in his 7th yr at Wichita St should get an interview
Here's a good article about him - LINK
Also need to see if Greg McDermott (Creighton's HC since 2010) has interest
Those would be my beginning list

Howland was a train wreck that UCLA fired for good reason. Don't want and quit brining up his name. Thanks in advance.

He definitely wasn't a train wreck and would be a homerun hire. He's actually a legitimate candidate if Grant were to be fired, unlike Pearl.

lot of stuff was going on at the program and the players quit on him. I think Bill Walton summed it up during the BB game with UCLA when he was the color guy.
google "ben howland ucla fired"
there are plenty of articles that talk about his tenure and the downfall.

Walton is a dumbass especially when it comes to UCLA.
I don't know any of the "stuff" that was going on at UCLA while Howland was coach.
Howland is twice the coach as every Bama coach since Wimp. His x and o's on both ends of the court far superior to the current and previous guys.

He got too concerned trying to recruit too many 1 and done guys after his final four runs and that hurt him. He definitely wasn't a train wreck though. Also, to use Bill Walton's opinion is laughable. I love Walton, but his personal vendetta against Howland was way beyond his coaching. Like I've stated many times, Howland would land us talent, develop that talent, and win games.

His players liked to smoke pot and Howland tried his best to look the other way. Those are the "issues".

not going to agree or disagree because I don't know x and o when it comes to Bb. Too much went down his last 3 years at UCLa from those articles. Just cuz he is a "big" name does not mean he is a good fit for Bama.
if he were to come to bama it would be a stepping stone like he used everyone until landing the UCLA job and then could not maintain things.

I remember his years there. All the negative press I see is from UCLA and their fans, which is to be expected. If something legitimately bad was going on, I still don't see it.
I'm not even saying UCLA was in the wrong for firing him, but doesn't mean he is not a good fit for another program.

that will be the case for many hires at Bama. He is old now, so maybe he would stick around due to that. If he is hired away it means he did very well at Bama.
None of it matters though Grant will be here three more years
