CrimsonBoz, are you hearing anything about Smart being involved either directly, or indirectly, behind the scenes through other parents?

classes start tomorrow and I would not be surprised if the team had no practice or a light practice.

I hope he is wouldn't hurt obviously unless he is toxic. I'm waiting to hear nothing yet.

If he comes back, I think we should move him to QB just to spice that debate up a bit more.

That'd be hilarious. We bring Sheff back, put him at QB, and he wins the thing.

While we're at it, let's make Sheff's dad the new AD

Maybe a little higher than our norm, but not much. When you sign 25 every year, there's going to be a fair amount of attrition every year...there has to be.

This x1000. My nephew walked on there during the early glory years. He said Saban really does care that these guys put themselves in a position to succeed off the field.

Football players want to play. If a 5* Db leaves the team to go somewhere else it usually means he can not beat someone else out. That probably means that the person in front of him is a good player.
The time to worry is when your starters start leaving.

I might get slammed for this, but in my humble opinion maybe Marlon should take this opportunity to be a leader instead of cryptic twitter quotes.

He, if anyone knows what it's like to come in here after being hyped as all world and then getting slapped in the face by the depth chart where nearly everyone is an all world 5*.

I think he should just keep that kind of stuff private and encourage Sheff to bide his time, learn the playbook, work his arse off and the reps will come.

I agree with you actually, and side note I have heard Sheffield wants to come back I have heard that damage has been done and he may not. Staff is quiet on it.

Man, this offseason has to have been hell for Coach Saban. 1st the Bo Davis stuff, then the Cam/Hootie thing, then Shank, Mo Smith, and now this. Not to mention battling to hold onto guys like Tosh and Cochran...

I wouldn't want to be the one to have to make a decision on a guy trying to return to the team after a spat over PT, which caused the guy to miss 3 practices in Fall Camp, unexcused.

I mean any shot you had at playing a meaningful role this season is probably done after that stunt from an overall process and messaging to the team standpoint.

Folks bring up Kenny Bell, but he was a senior and he only had a 24hour early retirement. Sheff has only been on campus for a little over a year. And its another uneccessary distraction.

That's not happening. Smart thinks of Saban like a father figure (almost). He'd do anything for Saban, and Saban would do anything for him. That's from the same authority that told me Smart once said, "Coach ain't hangin' it up any time soon, man. He's getting 6 and then probably going for more." when asked if he (Smart) thought he was in line to be the HC at Bama. There was a time when Smart thought 2017 was Saban's last year and that he would be the HC in 2018.
