Can you image Bama with a superstar QB, wow. Bama has had some very good QB under Saban, non of which I would call a superstar. If Saban had a Winston, Manziel, Newton, Watson type QB, Bama would win every game by 30 plus points.

I hear what you're saying, but I'd be perfectly content with another year like 09, 11, 12, or 15.

Lot's of experimentation in the secondary today. We have so much talent it's kind of stupid at this point.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm starting to get antsy leading into the season. The last few years, we kinda knew what we had. This year, with all the newer guys finding their places, I'm gonna be on edge to see how it all works together. The D should be stout but a new QB, new RBs, shuffled o-line, I wanna see Lane work some magic.

I think this team is one good QB away from being Saban's best team ever. Every other piece is in place.

I'm not worried about breaking in a new QB. What worries me is that unlike the last two years, we don't have that horse we can lean on like Amari or Henry. Tons of talent, but heading into the season, we don't have "that guy." Henry and Amari were Heisman-caliber players that defenses simply couldn't defend. Doesn't mean we won't have that guy or win without one but I think you know what I mean.
I'm naturally cautious anyway but factoring in the replacements we have on O/D, new DC, and our road schedule, I'm just bracing myself for an *off* year (2 or 3 losses) and will be pleasantly surprised with any kind of championship.

I'm not saying Hurts is that guy, but I've been saying for years that we are overdue for that superstar QB. The kind of QB that is the top draft pick and can just carry a team with his own playmaking ability. Imagine that kind of player with our talent and defense.
We might contend for a few championships if we had a guy like that......

See Calvin Ridley or OJ Howard (if Lane remembers he's still on the team)

I'd say Ridley is more of a known commodity coming into this season than Henry was going into last season. We know Ridley is a bonafide #1 receiver, and already a top 5 receiver in the country.

He may not have been flashy, but i think we had that superstar QB in AJ. As a Jr & Sr went for the following:
Junior - 2,933 passing yards, 30 TDs, 3 INTs (THREE!)
Senior - 3,063 passing yards, 28 TDs, 7 INTs
For his career he had 9,019 passing yards, 77 TDs, and 15 INTs. He finished 2nd in the Heisman as a SR. If Hurts or Barnett plays as a starter for 3 years and has those same stats, I think we'd likely call them a "superstar".

Give me AJ McCarron every day of the week. While people call him a game manager, he was obviously something much more.
Not knocking him at all but I think players like Cam, Peyton, Vince Young, etc. are a step above. When was the last time we had a QB taken in the top 10 of the draft? I'm am not complaining but that's what we're overdue for. BTW, I don't care if we get one or not because we're doing just fine without one.

A.J. was a fricking super star.

Potentially bad news for one of our dbs, won't put out names and circumstances yet but be aware.

On a scale of snowman on a 40 degree day to thermonuclear detonation, how big of a melt are we looking at here?
