Steele is rumored for the DC position. From some pay sites, Saban wants a veteran DC.

Do not want... He would be fine, would rather see Lake if we must go to someone more experienced than Golding.

Same. Do not want. Promote Golding and bring in a coach to work with the DL.

This is best case for Tosh leaving. I was terrified he'd go to UGA or somewhere. Can't recruit against us in the NFL.

If we hire Lake I doubt it would change much with Toto. Washington is one of his top 4 too.

Golding fits the elite recruiter profile, Lake has been responsible for some of UW's best pulls in the secondary.

HC - Nick Saban
OC/QB - Steve Sarkisian
RB - Lance Taylor
WR - Butch Jones
TE - Joe Pannunzio
OL - multiple candidates
ST - Jeff Banks
DC - ? (Tosh interviewing w/ Browns?)
LB - Pete Golding
DL - Kool (for now)
DB - Karl Scott

I think this is more likely:
OC/QB - Sark
WR - Taylor
RB - Jones
(or Pannunzio)
TE - Pannunzio (or Banks*)
OL - TBD
ST - Banks
* Joe could move off-field, but Saban might want him on-field since he's a good S FL recruiter. It's also possible Jones gets an off-field position.

I have no idea whether this is true or not. Who has he been responsible for bringing in this year? I'm not being a smart arse, I really don't know

Hope they just leave Joe at Rb and put Butch at TE or “ get back” coach

He has always been at small school prior to this year and his guys this year are Shane Lee, Byron Young, Christian Harris and got the commit from Jackson Bratton . I have no clue if he can recruit at the elite level at UA, but for UTSA he was pulling talent for that defense well above the average UTSA recruit and that makes me think he fits the elite recruiter mold.

Are y'all going to pay at least $2.5 million for Kevin Steele?

I explained my thoughts more in the followup, but basically he doesn't have the connections and hasn't been recruiting at a power for years, but he did great work at UTSA as a recruiter and did pull guys as the area recruiter.

I will say, both Golding and Lake are Db guys... if either is hired this feels like it leads to Scott leaving or splitting the position into Corners and Safeties...

Yeah I saw that after I had posted. He was the primary recruiter on Byron Young and Chris Harris this year. I have no clue what other recruits he was the primary recruiter for that we missed out on except Dean for sure.
