Well, when is Enos going to be announced? Anyone know?

& why are people not changing his wiki page. Has it been locked down?

It could be now until next week. Do we pronounce his last name, Enos or E-NOS?

Why Dan Enos hire could clarify Alabama's QB picture | al.com

quote:

Dan Enos has never coached in the NFL.

But he's been coveted by men who did.

Jim Harbaugh asked Enos to join his Michigan staff after Arkansas terminated his contract in wake of Bret Bielema's firing in November.

Then, Nick Saban swiped Enos from the Wolverines -- bringing him in to supervise Alabama's quarterbacks and serve as an associate head coach for the Crimson Tide.

Enos was courted by two of college football's most storied programs because the offense he's directed at previous stops is rooted in pro concepts. He has relied heavily on "Ace" formations with multiple tight ends and has asked his quarterbacks to operate from under center with dropbacks that range from three to seven steps.

He's also shown he's predisposed toward play-action.

"The big thing each and every game is to be able to create balance," Enos said in 2016.

In the past, Enos has worked with skilled passers. At Central Michigan, he tutored the big-bodied Cooper Rush, who is now with the Dallas Cowboys. During his three-year run at Arkansas, he mentored the Allen brothers -- Brandon and Austin. Brandon was second in the nation in total QBR in 2015. Austin led the Southeastern Conference in passing yards the following season.

Saban's decision to hire Enos appears to send a clear signal about what kind of quarterback he wants after he's introduced some ambiguity on that topic in recent seasons with some of the decisions he's made. Most notable among them was his call to hand over the offense to Jalen Hurts, the athletically-gifted sophomore who has shown deficiencies as a passer and an abiding impatience to cycle through his reads.

Hurts' weaknesses were revealed to the nation in the national championship game earlier this month when he was benched in favor of Tua Tagovailoa, the intriguing freshman who led the comeback against Georgia that resulted in Alabama's 17th national title.

In the limited action he has seen, Tagovailoa has shown he can routinely deliver anticipatory throws in tight windows with the kind of precision that makes NFL scouts drool.

Yet it's his willingness to hang in the pocket and assess his options that may be his most impressive quality, especially because Tagovailoa has the mobility to be an escape artist if the play breaks down or he can't connect with the primary receiver.

It's the mark of a quarterback that sees himself as a passer rather than a runner.

That's the kind of player Saban seems to want and it's certainly the type of quarterback Enos has coached.

Not long after the 2017 national championship loss to Clemson last spring, Saban wondered aloud if Alabama had lost a bit of its identity by making Hurts the starter.

"We became almost more of a quarterback-run, spread team and that's not really what we want to be," he said in a radio interview. "We want to be more pro-style as we were, with a mix of a spread."

With Enos coming into the fold and Tagovailoa already on campus, Saban's vision could be realized.

What you need to know about Dan Enos, new Alabama assistant coach | al.com
quote:

In the latest turn of the Alabama coaching staff changes, former Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos appears headed to Tuscaloosa.

He comes to the Crimson Tide after a brief stint as a Michigan assistant after not being retained by Arkansas when Bret Bielema was fired in November.

The 49-year old has been a name floated in the past for Alabama assistant coaching jobs. Now it's a reality as he assumes the role of associate head coach and quarterbacks coach.

Get to know the newest member of Nick Saban's coaching staff with a few facts worth knowing:

-- This is Enos' 14th job in college coaching.

-- As a freshman quarterback at Michigan State in 1987, Enos played for a coaching staff that included defensive coordinator Nick Saban. "He got after me a little bit in practice every day," Enos told reporters in Arkansas in 2015. "I don't know if he'll remember that or not."

-- His only head coaching job was at Central Michigan from 2010-14. He went 26-36, finishing his run with a wild 49-48 Bahamas Bowl loss to Western Kentucky. Central Michigan went 3-9 in each of the first two seasons before going 7-6, 6-6 and 7-6 in the next three seasons. His one bowl win came in the 2012 Little Caesars Bowl over WKU, 24-21.

-- The best offense of Enos time at CMU was the 2010 version that finished 49th nationally.

-- The 2013 No. 1 overall draft pick, Eric Fisher, was an offensive tackle for Enos at Central Michigan.

-- He took the CMU job after future Tennessee coach Butch Jones left to coach Cincinnati.

-- Enos was making $360,000 a year at CMU. That was bumped up to $550,000 for the offensive coordinator job at Arkansas, for which he left CMU.

-- Enos made $800,000 last season as the No. 28 highest-paid college assistant coach in the USA Today database.

The total offense ranking of Arkansas with Enos as the offensive coordinator:

-- 2015: No. 29 (465.5)

-- 2016: No. 54 (428.4)

-- 2017: No. 94 (373.4)

-- While at Arkansas, Enos' contract had a no-complete clause that didn't allow him to leave for another job in the SEC. Kirby Smart reportedly contacted Arkansas for permission to interview him for the Georgia OC job in 2015 but the clause stopped that conversation before it started.

-- In 2016, Enos' Arkansas offense put up 473 yards on Alabama in a 49-30 loss. Quarterback Austin Allen threw for 400 yards on 25-for-48 passing with three touchdowns and three interceptions (one of which was returned 100 yards for a touchdown by Minkah Fitzpatrick).

-- As a QB at Michigan State, Enos was a two-year starter with a 16-7-1 record with two bowl victories. He's still No. 13 in school history with 3,837 passing yards and his 62.1 completion percentage ranks fourth.

-- As the Michigan State running backs coach in 2009, Enos was No. 25 in the Rivals recruiting ranking for coaches.

-- Enos spent one season as the Spartans' quarterbacks coach in 2006. Drew Stanton got most of the snaps, but current Patriots backup and former NFL starter Brian Hoyer played ight games and completed 82 of 144 passes for 863 yards

Starting quarterbacks he's coached:

-- Cincinnati 2004: Gino Guidugli 210-342 (61.4%) 2,633 yards, 26 TD, 8 INT

-- Cincinnati 2005: Dustin Grutza 168-300 (56.0%) 1,799 yards, 11 TD, 11 INT

-- Michigan St. 2006: Drew Stanton 164-269 (61.0%) 1,807 yards, 12 TDs, 10 INT

-- Central Mich. 2010: Ryan Radcliff 282-466 (60.5%) 3,358 yards, 17 TD, 17 INT

-- Central Mich. 2011: Ryan Radcliff 257-453 (56.7%) 3,286 yards, 25 TD, 16 INT

-- Central Mich. 2012: Ryan Radcliff 242-407 (59.5%) 3,163 yards, 23 TD, 9 INT

-- Central Mich. 2013: Cooper Rush 177-312 (56.7%) 2,349 yards, 15 TD, 15 INT

-- Central Mich. 2014: Cooper Rush 243-382 (63.6%) 3,149 yards, 27 TD, 13 INT

-- Arkansas 2015: Brandon Allen 244-370 (65.9%) 3,440 yards, 30 TD, 8 INT

-- Arkansas 2016: Austin Allen 245-401 (61.1%) 3,430 yards, 25 TD, 15 INT

-- Arkansas 2017: Austin Allen 105-187 (56.1%) 1,427 yards, 10 TD, 5 INT

Idk about CMU's & MSU's talent level relative to their competition, but it seems fair to say Arky's was weak enough (e.g., OL pass pro) to hinder QB performance.

The no-compete would have come off the table the minute Arky fired him.

Depends upon how it was worded.

Depends on if they fired him too. Bielema was fired, but was the entire staff fired?

Sometimes you aren't gone unless the new HC has a say. How it goes a lot in the NFL.

Now Chad Morris has a different style than Dan Enos, so I doubt he wanted him on staff anyway...

Doesn't matter much either way. The noncompete clause expires 02/15/18.

Austin Allen played damn well in 2016 and that was with getting hit nearly every play. This year it was injuries.

My main concern is whether or not Enos adjusted to that high QB hit rate in his playcalling. I do know a few games they were slinging it from behind.

Brandon Allen has a pretty good supporting cast in 2015.

Alex Collins
Jonathan Williams (injured?)
Rawleigh Williams
Hunter Henry
Jeremy Sprinkle
OL was Ragnow, Smothers, Kirkland, Tretola, Skipper (I think)
and their WRs were Drew Morgan, Cornelius, Reed & Hatcher.

Anyone else think that Banks was hired to coach Special Teams & RB once Burton leaves and Enos is in place in case Locksley leaves?
