If Daboll leaves, I want Canada just for laughs.

Report: Alabama OC Brian Daboll could return to NFL | BamaOnline
quote:

Still in search for a defensive coordinator following Jeremy Pruitt's departure to Tennessee, Nick Saban may soon be without his head man on the offensive side of the football.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport believes Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll could be heading back to the NFL after one season with the Crimson Tide, where he helped the program to its fifth national championship since 2009 on Monday night.

Brian Daboll, the Alabama offensive coordinator who impressed a couple nights ago replacing his starting quarterback leading to a national title, could return to the NFL,” Rapoport said Wednesday.

Daboll, 42, was a Broyles Award finalist this season after helping Alabama's offense finish in the SEC's Top 5 in nearly every statistical category. The Crimson Tide had the second fewest turnovers in college football (10) and managed the most rushing yards per game (250.6) in the Saban era.

Daboll coached 15 years in the NFL before leaving Bill Belichick's staff as New England's tight ends coach in 2017 to call plays in Tuscaloosa. Daboll is Alabama's sixth offensive coordinator under Saban and third in two seasons.

There's currently six offensive coordinator vacancies in the NFL including the Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns.

SOURCES: Former #TAMU special teams coordinator & recruiting coordinator Jeff Banks will become the new STC for #Alabama.
Banks also had been one of the Aggies top recruiters, helped land Christian Kirk.

So I started researching Jeff Banks after this news from Feldman. He landed 5-stars Christian Kirk and Kyle Allen a couple years ago and was the lead recruiter for DE Max Wright.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. He was also the Aggies lead recruiter for Isaac Taylor-Stuart.

I guess we have one more spot to fill.

Any ideas?

ILB coach, right? Daboll leaving would be a curveball that would open up some shifting on Offense for sure.

I mentioned Daboll and Locksley possibly making moves in the OP.

I also listed the rumors about Chris Partridge as ILBs coach. But that seems more unlikely as times passes.

It looks to be a 50-50 chance that Brian Daboll goes back to the NFL.

I would love to see Freddie Kitchens come here as the new OC

If Daboll goes NFL then I'd like to see us get an OC who can flat out recruit. It would be hard to NOT score 30+ with Tua, Harris x2, the WR group, 4 of 5 o-line coming back, etc. We can't take a chance on hiring a coordinator who doesn't restock the cupboard at a rate equal to Saban's expectations

Michigan linebackers coach Chris Partridge, a rising star in the coaching world, is a candidate for the remaining opening on Alabama's staff, AL.com has learned.

Former Crimson Tide graduate assistant Doug Belk is one of the other coaches in the mix for that spot, per sources.

Partridge, a former New Jersey high school coach, has been at Michigan since 2015 and has been the team's linebackers and special teams coach the last two seasons.

The 37-year old was named National Recruiter of the Year by Scout in 2016 and by 247Sports last year.

Belk, who was an Alabama graduate assistant from 2014 through 2016, is currently West Virginia's cornerbacks coach.

As it stands now, the Tide has one remaining opening on its staff with Alabama reportedly set to hire Jeff Banks as special teams coordinator.

It's possible the Tide could fill that position with someone like Partridge to coach inside linebackers. It's also possible Alabama could hire a defensive backs coach like Belk.

New assistant Pete Golding, whom the Tide hired in December, gives Alabama some flexibility.

I'm hoping for Partridge, but now expecting Belk.

A lot of schools are hiring multiple secondary coaches...

Any background you can add on Belk, aside from what the article detailed?

I remember him leaving for the WVU post. But I don't know anything about him.

A quick look at Belk.

He is from Georgia. And has recruited the state heavily for WVU, according to his 247Sports profile.

He is still in his 20s and played at Carson-Newman.

quote:

Profile: Doug Belk

New position: West Virginia cornerbacks coach replacing Blue Adams, who left South Florida

Previous jobs: Graduate assistant at Alabama (2014-2016); defensive backs coach at Valdosta State (2012-2013)

Playing career: Played quarterback, receiver, running back and defensive back at Division II Carson-Newman (2006-2010)

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer information and business management from Carson-Newman in 2010; master’s degree in sport management from Alabama in 2015

Quoting Dana Holgorsen: “We would like to welcome Doug to the West Virginia football program. He comes highly recommended and brings several years of successful secondary experience at high-level programs.”

Both candidates are homerun hire. Can recruit and can definitly coach.

We will not see kitchen coming back to coach offense anytime soon.
