we have some sure ignant people if they mention Freeze as a potential hire at Bama in any capacity. I would hire Bo Davis back before freeze and it does not look good for Bo since he lied to NS

He won't until the show cause is up. When his NCAAPunishment is over, I bet Saban takes him back

My list would be
Dan Enos
Jed Fisch
I wish we could have brought the kid(Billy.N) back but he now HC a ULL.
I stated once before that the OC at NCS game against clemson was really impressive.

But I have always like the Job jedd has done everywhere he's been.
Be it with a top QB recruit or average QB recruit.
I think a good balance between what he done under Pete carol and harbaugh combined with
his pro experience has well rounded his X&O's.
The ucla offense was very productive and spread the ball around a lot with multiple targets.
Now given it was rosen but as Ive said he done well with avg QB's(see work while at Miami along with coley (co offensive) who's now with UGA.

ucla offense 2017

I doubt Saban hires Freeze and I hope not. I hope he hires someone fairly young with strong OC/QB chops and future HC potential. I really like Jedd Fisch's credentials. He's readily available too.

The NCAA denied an appeal from Bo Davis on Thursday and upheld a two-year show-cause penalty it placed upon the former Alabama assistant in April that runs through April 13, 2019.

Which is worse than it sounds because he has lost all of his relationships with high school players.

Why not bring back Bo as an on field coach, but have someone else do his off campus recruiting. Several programs do this with a few of their coaches.

Though I doubt Bo would qualify for the waiver. I think most coaches that do have a health issue.

Anyhow I wouldn't care if Bo was the highly overpaid water boy for the next year. He needs to start making connections with recruits now, and be ready when he takes over. I know he is eventually coming back; time to get it over with.

Here is Sterlin Gilberts bio from USF website
LINK
quote:

Gilbert previously served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under head coach Charlie Strong at Texas during the 2016 season and previously held positions as co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Tulsa (2015), Bowling Green (2014) and Eastern Illinois (2012-13). Gilbert's last four offenses at four different universities have posted a combined average of 505.3 yards and 36.8 points per game, producing 304.3 yards per game through the air and 200.9 yards per game on the ground.
quote:

Gilbert's Texas offense ranked 17th in the nation and second in the Big 12 in rushing, posting 239.3 yards per game on the ground, and was 16th nationally and fifth in the Big 12 averaging 491.3 total yards per game. Longhorn running back D'Onta Foreman became just the 28th player in FBS history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season. He ran for over 100 yards in all 11 games he played and ranked first in the nation in rushing yards per game (184.4 ypg), second in total rushing yards (2,028 yards) and third in all-purpose yards (191.18 ypg). Foreman earned first team All-America honors and was named the 2016 Doak Walker Award winner and the 2016 Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Freshman quarteback Shane Buechele earned honorable mention as the conference's Offensive Freshman of the Year.

Yea, I doubt the NCAA is gonna cut Bo any slack with waivers or anything.

You take Bo's ability to recruit equally to his peers away, he's not an upgrade over Karl Dunbar in any way.

Dunbar may head back to the NFL, but he's definitely not being forced out...

My concern is his USF stint this year. He heavily underperformed expectations and the offense regressed from 2016. He ran a very vanilla playbook.

He runs a Veer n Shoot that Briles ran, but he struggles heavily when you get into the redzone. That was apparent both at Texas and USF. I fully expect our kicker to get murdered if we hire him.

Lucked out getting Daboll and not having to go down that route last offseason.

Might not be able to avoid it this time, though.

No more chess on offense. Back to checkers.
