Offense was clunky and at times kind of bland (especially the run game), but it's hard to come to any conclusion other than they did their job - especially when considering the circumstances of the game and their inexperience.

Fun fact: Based on Fremeau's drive definition which eliminates the one-play clock killing drive to end 2Q, Alabama's 3.44 points per drive today would have ranked 5th in the Power Five last season. Alabama set the all-time record in 2020 at 4.41 PPD.

On the flip side, our pathetic defense also allowed 3.44 points per drive. That's embarrassing.

I think people are overreacting about the offense today. We are just used to goat offensive play. Bryce and company definitely played well.
Defense on the other hand is extremely eye opening poor. Seriously never seen a one dimensional team carve us up like that.
I honestly don't think Florida is very good on offense either. That is what is so scary moving forward

Color me shocked. Not that I thought the O did bad. Our defense has got to step up. We didn’t give them a lot of rest late in the first half. They got rest second half. We still couldn’t get a stop.

Wish we actually ran the ball more.
Also with Fla pinning their ears back, wish we threw a RB or TE screen or two to keep them honest.
For all the talk about Bryce Young going into the Swamp, the kids played great. He got fooled once on the INT that Cox dropped but overall, he played very well. He's clearly not afraid of lights.

Bryce Young’s play was far and away the biggest positive (other than winning) of the entire game.
First game ever in a packed, hostile environment and game where every possession mattered and he performed. Didn’t seem to ever get rattled, made very few even questionable much less bad choices.
Just a superb performance.

I have to wonder why Billingsley and Latu only had one reception apiece. They made plays when their number was called but never got into the game. They are weapons and need to be involved more if the receivers are not more consistent. Bolden is not elite. That drop in the end zone was unforgivable.

There were a couple of times when he could have scrambled for a first down and a touchdown in the fourth quarter when Latu stepped out of bounds in the end zone. He should have run it in.

The defense was terrible and that was the bad surprise considering the talent and experience that we have. Golding was out coached yesterday. Very concerning.

Agree. Hellums and Battle were horrible in run support. As the last line of defense, they have to play better.

Sure, with the benefit of knowing the outcome, he could have chosen differently but every single player has those every game.
As far as the Latu pass goes, yes he scores if he keeps it. I said the same thing, but there's another angle - what's one of the hardest things to do with a young QB? Teach them to keep their eyes downfield. It took Jalen 3 years to figure it out.
Young does it now - and if the ball isn't tipped ever so slightly, Latu has a TD and we're praising Young's vision.
Like I said, I was beyond impressed.

They only had one catch a piece because they were stuck blocking for Owens sorry arse.

This is the one thing that annoyed me about Bryce's performance yesterday. He played well under the circumstances but there were multiple times during the game where he could have used his legs to pick up yardage and yet chose to stay in the pocket. I know he wants to be a pass first kind of QB, but he has wheels. If there's a lane he needs to take it.

No doubt. There will absolutely come a time when it's a must. Whether it's against Ole Miss, at A&M or at Auburn. Hopefully our coaches let him know this. I know that he's trying to save his body for the NFL but he's got to convert with his legs at some point.

Owens absolutely sucks. I know that the staff trusts him because of his knowledge and experience but he needs to take a back seat for one of the younger tackles. He got whipped yesterday by Brenton Cox.

Can’t say I disagree. Cox is a good player but Owens was not good at all.

Do the rest of the OTs just suck arse? Because honestly I don't see the difference between blowing an assignment and trying to block the right guy and getting beat like a rented mule.

Over half the offense last year are day 1 starters in the NFL this year. There was going to be a step back but they've done as well as or better than expected imo.
