Our offensive identity, gameplan and play calling need to play more to our stengths, instead of subjecting us to our OL's & QB's weaknesses. Use perimeter, stretch and misdirection runs, screens, swing passes, quick short & intermediate throws, rollout rpos, slight delay release of RB to vacated area for easy throws & yac, etc. That stuff has worked well -- it keeps us ahead in the chains, sustains drives AND helps open up the inside running game too.

I think the amount of passing and lack of running back carries was the staff trying to attack Auburn’s weakness, which is their secondary, as opposed to attacking their front 7.

I just don’t think we have the pass blocking and style of QB to do that, at least not with the execution level they had last night.

Me personally, I'm tired of the running QB offense. I would much rather see a good pocket passer that can read the defense and his progressions. Add in a competent running back and we have a winning pro style or play action combination.

Whatever our current scheme ( I certainly can't figure out what it is) is obviously not sticking with the players either. So many times this year, it seemed as though the offense didn't know who they were either. Something is definitely off and it shows on the field. Maybe Daboll isn't the great hire we thought he was...

Agree. Your second paragraph higlights the flaw in focusing too much on slow developing pass plays. Basically the same point I was making. I just hope Saban & Daboll will recognize the problem and re-adjust our offensive approach for the post season.

Btw, for the record I'm finally feeling doutbful that Jalen will ever adequately overcome his inability to quickly find and make the right throws. So, I'm hopeful Tua is able to prove he can while also minimizing picks -- and win the job by the end of spring camp.

I was pleasantly surprised at our run blocking today and really confused as to why we went away from it. As a team, they averaged 5.6 YPC. Harris at about 9 YPC and Bo close to 7 YPC....they only run a combined 12 plays???

You take away the three big runs, and Harris and Bo only averaged a little over 3 YPC on the other 9 carries. Some of those were for 0, 1, and 2 yards. Our OL was not consistently opening holes for them.

We can win our next game but we have to shape the offense around Jalen. It can be so good at times.

Our 2015 class was Cotton, #3 OG, Pettibon, #4 OG, and Womack, #67 OT.

Would anyone in their right mind suggest that Lester Cotton is currently the #3 guard among all 3rd year guards in the country?

Has Pettibon ever played a meaningful snap?

Has Womack played any better than his ranking would suggest?

Poor OL evaluation and recruiting and/or poor OL coaching when they get to Tuscaloosa.

You can shape your offense around Jalen all you want, but the OL from the glory days aren't coming back. Neither is Pendry or Stoutland.

Poor coaching.

The Minnesota center is another example. #1 center yet he sits on the bench for years. When he plays he is below average.

What the hell are they coaching??

Even Jonah had regressed
