There won’t be an open seat in 2026. It’s Will Ainsworth’s to lose. Either he takes over for Kay in two years or he’s coronated himself.
He’ll step on his Johnson if Kay doesn’t make it 4 years.
Kay’s nothing special but she’s known for a long time all she has to do to win is shut up and smile. Ainsworth on the other hand thinks he’s smart, wants to prove it, and in the process often proves he isn’t. He’s far from a lock in 2026.

What happened in Brookside is criminal, but a YouTube video made by an advocacy law firm isn’t national news.

The Brookside story did make some more reputable national news outlets when it first broke. Haven’t seen much since.

Someone sent me this. No clue if it’s accurate or not but seems right.
Rough calculation from yesterday around cost per vote:
Lindy Blanchard : $72
Tim James: $38
Kay Ivey: $25
Lew Burdette: $15
Thought that was interesting. Couldn’t imagine dropping $9 million of my own money to be Governor of Alabama and then not even making the runoff.

Something isn’t really adding up with Blanchard. Spending that much money kind of makes sense for a Senate seat, but not governor of Alabama. The Governor’s office here doesn’t really hold much power or sway. Was it ever disclosed why she switched races?
Either way, what a colossal waste of money.

She switched races because she wasn’t going anywhere in the Senate race. You’re right though. It’s not like being the Gov of Alabama is a pathway to a larger job so it’s baffling why she would spend that much.
I imagine we’ve seen the last of Tim James. He’s now 0-3 and has never finished above 3rd place. It’s interesting because he seems like someone who should be doing better in a statewide race than he does. He’s right wing but he’s not Roy Moore crazy. If you hear him talk, he actually has knowledge of issues. He just tries too hard to get headlines so he can grab that 20-25% religious right for the primary instead of selling himself. He’s also run the wrong races at the wrong time.

Second, she didn’t win because of some overwhelming groundswell of Alabama democrats coming out to keep her in office. She won because she’s incredibly popular with the type of voter that reliably comes out for primary elections and her two major opponents were nothing more than caricatures . The potential serious candidates knew going against her was an uphill battle and sat it out to wait on the open seat in 2026.
When the Lt. Gov and AG stayed out of the race, that was clue #1 that Kay Ivey had this in the bag.

Who funded her?

She spent over $9 million of her own money. Very little other funding.
Probably not a great financial decision.

Nobody spends $9M without expectation of a return. Where is the return on her investment?

No clue. Maybe more money than sense? Got to see her face on television a lot I guess.

Just because she (and her husband) have money, it doesn’t mean she has sense. My guess is she was hoping the money would get her into a runoff where a 1 on 1 with Ivey would’ve been a different ballgame. If elected, she then tries to become a bigger figure in the party because that’s obviously her goal.
Lindy isn’t some dynamic potential female political star like Kari Lake. She was propped up by a lot of consultants and had no originality. She really should have dropped out altogether instead of switching races.

Here's why she ran: to keep up this God-forsaken "stolen election" charade.

Everybody from John Merrill to the county vote counters know these machines are just fine. How much longer will these people keep this bullshite up?

I guess the massive ballot dump at 3 AM and video of pollsters covering up windows to hide their activities just flew over your head.
The machines may be fine, but cheating on a biblical scale occurred in the 2020 election.

Wait a minute… you mean Biden really didn’t tally 81 million votes?
Posted on 6/11/22 at 9:39 am to TideSaint
Cheating always been there. 2000, 1964, late 1800s scandal, etc. Notice all of these happen after the secret ballot became the norm. Before that, your vote was published in a newspaper---greater transparency.

As long as there are easily duped idiots out there willing to believe it and donate money to their cause.

Kinda hard to donate money to campaigns with $5 gas and food prices skyrocketing.
At least you soy boys don't have to read mean things on Twitter anymore, right?
You voted for this disastrous administration and we're all suffering for it.
Thanks.

During the debates, the mean tweet man was prophetic when he pointed Biden's way telling the whole world Biden would suspend drilling and cancel keystone pipeline, which he did soon after being inaugurated.
Here we are, only 1 year 5 months into his administration, inflation/gas prices skyrocketing.
Lameduck Biden's goal is for us all to go to electric cars.
