Kentucky literally tried to hire him less than 2 years ago. We’re the only program in the country to go to a final 4 and 2 elite 8s in the last 3 years. Not Kentucky, Michigan St, UCLA, Kansas. Us

They did. And yes, we have had great success by our standards. If I were Oats, I would not go to Kentucky or Indiana, NC, Duke, UConn., etc. Elite 8s won't be enough at those schools. At first they might be, but pretty soon they would be complaining about no championships.

Those places are like coaching football at Alabama. DeBoer is 10-3 with a SOS of #1 and one of his losses came to number 3 in the conference championship game. In his second year he went to the championship game and the playoffs. Yet, we have a gaggle of people about ready to pull the plug on him. That's what coaching at a lot of those other schools would be like.

Oats needs to stay right where he is. He has a pretty sweet set up.

I don’t know how I can convince you of this, but every single one of these teams would take “elite 8 and maybe better if things break right” because that’s what this sport is.

You think Indiana wouldn’t take it? They haven’t won anything in ages. Duke isn’t asking for their coach to be fired. North Carolina went years without a title and they’ve stayed patient(probably beyond reason) with Hubert. Kentucky has won 1 in 30 years and only tired of Cal because he was getting bounced early.

Basketball is not football. I can promise you every single one of the programs you mentioned above except for Uconn(because it’s Hurley) and Duke(because he’s done well and is one of theirs) would gladly trade coaches with us.

So would these bluebloods: UCLA, Villanova, Kansas, Louisville.

Oats has accomplished what he has with a fraction of the budget of some of these schools playing in a 65 year old airplane hangar

If you watch Patriot League video on Williamson he has skills...I think his problem is confidence. If he'll just learn to do what he can do and just play he's a good shooter and you can't teach 7 ft 255, he can at least give us a few good minutes a night.

I’d take 1 good minute at this point

Fine. You're right. He should head off at the first opportunity to one of those schools.

We need to lock Oats long term. He is the best thing to happen to Bama basketball in ages. We are relevant because of him.

Are all the new lifelong passionate Indiana football fans this informed?

They've watched NFL for years, so they already know football. We've got people who don't know anything about basketball suddenly become experts. So we've got it worse than Indy.
