It's not if you know the guy. Dudes a football junkie like Demeco is.

The guy was targeted multiple times for DC. Even Brian Kelley attempted to take him to LSU with him.

Yet somehow.. risky.

He wasn’t risky for DC.

He had zero HC experience and was only the DC at Notre Dame for one year. It would be slightly better than hiring Tommy Rees after Saban left.

Usually how it works when you hire coordinators yet somehow the very successful ones everyone wants aren't thought of as risky.

Rees was an average OC that ND fans hated and wanted out.

How is that anything close to Freeman? They celebrated the hire and people said they were trying to mask the pain of losing BK.

Most of the hcs in these playoffs were coordinators before their current gig.

On a related topic, Clemson fans are pining for Jim Leonhard.

I am sure. Results are not always guaranteed every year but watch teams like OSU, Michigan,Notre Dame, Texas, TAMU, Miami, Oregon, USC etc from now on.
These schools have money and reputations hence have capability to win every year. We can win too but it won’t be an every year thing, as long as the present rules continue.
That rug has been pulled from under us.

I’m saying hiring a coordinator as HC, regardless of who it is, is risky.

You just want to be offended.

I’m saying if Alabama hired Rees. He was OC for one year and there were reports he was being considered. I don’t believe those reports though.

A program like Alabama and Notre Dame should be able to get someone that has already shown success as a HC. UGA hiring Kirby was risky and he proved it multiple times with very dumb decision making.

Sark was HC at Washington and USC
Franklin was HC at Vandy
Heupel was HC at UCF
Indiana HC was HC at JMU

Ryan Day, Kirby, and Freeman were coordinators and got a shot at a top program and all of them were risky.

Oregon, SMU, ASU, BSU, and Clemson are all schools you would expect to hire a coordinator. Oregon and Clemson are the only ones that has the potential to take another power conference team’s coach but they’re not on the same level as Alabama, ND, UGA, and OSU

Broncos just went on a 18 play drive that lasted over 11 minutes.
Nix is 17/17 and 3TDs vs the Chiefs team they signed off the street this week.

Carson Beck has entered the transfer portal. I think he has one year of eligibility remaining.

I think we should do due diligence on this...not saying he's a gotta pounce...but I think Beck is the type of bridge QB that signals to Keelon that his time is 2026 at the latest.

I wonder if Auburn/Freeze are kicking themselves for investing in Jackson Arnold?
