Nick Saban Predictions
2012
Saban
“Is this what we want football to be?” I think that the way people are going no-huddle right now, that at some point in time, we should look at how fast we allow the game to go in terms of player safety.”
We now have fans booing players because they believe they are faking injuries to slow down the game.
Saban rule adopted anyway.
Saban gets his own version of the rpo, go fast offense, leading to some of the most explosive offenses in college football.
2014 CFP
Saban
“I think the more emphasis that you put on the playoffs the more you dissipate the importance of the bowl games and the interest that people have in the bowl games, whether it be fans or media or whomever.”
BCS dropped and CFP born
Now we have players sitting out of bowl because it’s a “meaningless” game.
2018 Intra-conference transfers.
Saban
"And I just stated the reason: Do we want free agency in the SEC? Should guys be able to leave your team and go play for somebody else next year that you have to play against? And I do feel there are cases where that may be a viable option, if it’s for academic reasons.”
Saban rule adopted anyway.
Saban now stealing players and fans are upset and want the rules changed.
2021 Expansion
calls to expand to 8-16 playoff teams.
Saban
“It’s really not for me, and I don’t even think I’m capable of judging how significant the positive self-gratification that players, programs, and coaches get from being able to go to a bowl game. Now, everything has shifted to the four teams in the playoffs, and the bowls seem to be pretty insignificant. I think if we expand the playoff, you’re going to see a continuation of that trend where the bowl games become less and less significant. Maybe these things can’t coexist. If they’re going to coexist, maybe we should try to leave them pretty much the same.”
2021 NIL
Saban
"The only thing is, the question is because it's not going to be equal, and everything that we've done in college athletics in the past has always been equal," Saban said. "Everybody's had equal scholarship, equal opportunity. Now that's probably not going to be the case. Some positions, some players will have more opportunities than others.
"How that's going to impact your team, our team, the players on the team, I really can't answer because we don't have any precedent for it."
Bottom line is none of these “Saban rules” actually hurt Alabama. He is so far ahead of everyone and outworks them, no amount of rules will stop this machine.
The melts are glorious :nana:

Saban really should be the commissioner of CFB.

The hurry-up, transfer, and NIL things weren’t Saban complaining or whining like some people thought at the time. They were threats. Is this what we want football to be? Yes? Well then ok, watch this…

He bitches about it and warns everyone of the consequences,
When it appears inevitable, he just shrugs his shoulders, adapts, and beats everyone at the new game.

He needs to be the President of the United States. I could tolerate the occasional bone he would throw to liberals because he's a West Virgnia-Joe Manchin Democrat, in exchange for having the country run with a level of competence we haven't seen in my long lifetme.
And you can be certain that if and when he ever went to war, we would get in, kick arse, and get out. And if the generals didn't fall into line, he'd can their asses.
