I don't know if Saban made this decision abruptly today or not, but I have no trouble believing it.

Wasn't his decision to leave the Dolphins and come to Tuscaloosa rather spontaneous?

If it’s Norvell I’ll actually be pissed. The guy not only let his entire team quit but supported it. Not only does that go against our standard it would be a slap in the face to everything Saban has built here.

A Oregon recruit is stating Lanning texted the team saying he is staying supposedly

We need to grab one of the three by tomorrow. The GD Neon ND his retarded tackle are calling everyone on the team.

Unless he offered a screenshot of the text this means nothing.

It was supposedly on Oregon Space whatever that is.

But the only original source for him being in Tuscaloosa is the newscaster in Oregon. Everyone is quoting him.

I would be surprised if he doesn't at least interview and see what the offer is. Worse case scenario he stays at Oregon and gets a big pay raise.

Rivals is saying they have sources saying he is in Tuscaloosa. Not sure whats true but I doubt people in an Oregon space know.

Byrne is called the ninja for a reason. He's stealthy.

A lot of people are saying that but I wonder if all their sources come down to that one guy in the Oregon AD

A quick search for "Oregon Space" brings up a bunch of astronomical museums in the state of Oregon. "Oregon Space University of Oregon" brings up a thing called Oregon Spaces where the university is reviewing whether they're effectively using space on campus. It could be a thing but I'm not finding anything about it in my preliminary search.

A space is a chat function on twitter where you can start a mic'd group chat and basically anyone can join.

That's what it's referring to? Just some recruit's group chat? That doesn't seem particularly reliable.

From Charlie Potter on BOL

quote:

It was business as usual in Tuscaloosa this morning with Nick Saban interviewing several candidates for the vacancies on his coaching staff. There was a routine team meeting planned for this afternoon, and Saban was working up until that point when he informed the team he was retiring, citing his age and health concerns. The team, from the coaches to the players, did not expect that kind of announcement from him today, the first day of classes at Alabama.

Again, it’s all message board posts so who knows but

-Oregon players and recruits have supposedly been told by Lanning he’s staying. Info is from the players/recruits as well as from second hand sources.

-Multiple Oregon insiders claim they have confirmed he is and has been in Eugene all afternoon.

-Most every source online saying that Lanning was in Tuscaloosa spawned from a reporter in Oregon claiming his source told him that he was. Some sites have since backtracked/edited their claims.

All that coupled with the fact it’s hardly ever the first name mentioned doesn’t have me feeling good about our chances. Hopefully Boz is right and he actually is here. Fingers crossed.

I mean, you really never know. Even Nick Saban himself claimed he wasn’t gonna be the next Alabama head coach way back when, and look what happened.

Oregon message boards know very little about Alabama's coaching search imo. Not saying it will be lanning, but if our own insiders don't know shite yet I know Oregon's doesnt.

I think one poster posted that but either they were reopened or he did something wrong cause you can still beat. Unless this is a new event that happened in the last 10 mins

If it’s not Lanning I really wouldn’t mind Lane. I know it’s unlikely due to public relations and other factors but he’d be a rockstar here. I’ve warmed up to it now that we’re here and seeing his past season at Ole Miss.

I know the HS recruiting scares ppl but he’s at Ole Miss. With the right staff he could recruit well at Bama. Put incentives in his contract that focus on recruiting finishes.

He won’t back down to the likes of Kirby or Sark. He might be the guy imho. Just depends if he’s really matured or not.

The issue is the things he did while he was here really rubbed ppl the wrong way. Joey Freshwater was real.

No doubt. Just don’t want everyone only seeing what our guys are saying and think there’s nothing conflicting it
