It's really infuriating to see so many fans on both sides getting kinda screwed in this deal. The bowls get their money, the schools get their money, ESPN gets its money, all it fans' expense. This system is so corrupt and rotten.

And I know this year is a bit unusual with the awful location, but the principle still applies.

Yep - if you have any intentions of possible flying the rest of the year, Southwest is the way to go. You basically get to hedge, and if we had lost you just have to change and flip it to something else and move on.

We did that too, not as far in the distance as you did, but we did it around the middle of December. My round trip for 2 is $700 for ATL-LAX and SAC-ATL. ATL to LAX is even direct.

Sorry but too many people buy tickets for Bama games to scalp which makes it difficult for people who actually want to go to games to get tickets.
I for one am tired of seeing opposing fans in A club and Tide Oride seat

Yea well all of us Tide Pride folks got absolutely shite kicked in this whole National Title game deal. We're all paying $575 face value while everyone else is going to show up and pay $125 a ticket.

The cfp will have to lower face value. I'm going to pay double the get in price because I bought face value through Tide pride. Interest in attending these games is waning and they keep upping the price. all the people who got burned buying them for inflated face value will not buy them again through the schools.

If they get in next year. Definitely book your tickets through tide pride. Tickets will be 1000+ in NO

No they won't. Schools are contractually obligated to buy a set amount of tickets and it's up to the schools to sell those. The CFP and the bowl games get their money regardless, so they couldn't care less. Tickets that don't go to schools mostly go to local corporate sponsors, where again the bowls and the CFP already have their money. The few they sell to local fans are just gravy.

As with Tide Pride, the solution is to stop buying them from from the University and rely on the secondary market. Enough schools start eating large numbers of bowl game tickets and that may force some changes. But that's the only way it will happen.

Besides, this is the first year I believe where the get in price is drastically lower than face. Most other years, it's been a little more than face, and last year was drastically higher.

Exact same thing happened in Phoenix in 2015. Ticket prices are directly related to whether the game is within driving distance.

You won't see a replay of this until the game in LA

Forgot about 2015, but were they drastically below face?

Yeah, and I think there only being a week between the semis and finals is the bigger issue as by that time flight prices are through the roof. And unless you fly a lot and have status with the big carriers, Southwest is the only one that allows you to cancel/change your flights should you book one before the semis and your team loses.

It's an awful system for the fans, and it blows my mind fans want to expand the playoffs to 8 teams.

Agreed. If the schools get stuck paying for thousands of tickets nobody buys, they'll start pushing back, will probably take a few years though.

Besides, I don't think a half empty upper deck is a very good look for the CFP championship game and they should be concerned with how that looks.

The only good solution for expensive flights is to plan ahead. We booked in November. I'm flying out of STL, but my family flying from ATL got very reasonable rates. We just planned a fun trip so that way if we didn't get in we still had something to look forward to.

As far as tickets, getting boned through Tide Pride kinda sucks, but that's the way it goes. If Clemson had laid an egg and we played ND tickets would be more expensive. Just the risk you take.

How much are hotels? I've heard stupid high prices.

Overall, with plane tickets, car rentals, hotels, even if tickets were free, it'd be very difficult for the average Alabama or Clemson fan to go.
