Not a good analogy: If a player makes a gesture that could remotely be construed as a fair catch, it's treated as a fair catch signal.

Well DeBoer didn't realize when he got to Alabama how many BS calls we get but he's learned now that you better be on your toes because everybody hates Bama. When you're Darth Vader don't expect to be kissed at the prom. We may not REALLY be Darth on the field now, but everyone still sees the suit and wants a piece.
It's astounding how bad the video was at that game. Video review was impossible in most cases. I really enjoyed the UFL broadcasts last year and the video quality was so much better than that and the booth reviews were solid and well explained. It made the game so much more enjoyable. And to think the UFL is a low budget shoestring budget organization, not the Billion Dollar Gold mine that is NCAA football.
On the punt play I never saw any video within 100 yards of where the ball landed. Do they literally have 3 guys with iphones filming this stuff?

including the reviews.
I don't even know why there is review. They still get it wrong more times than not even with it. And this is in every game, not just games involving BAMA.

There’s been a noticeable uptick of horrible calls where the refs seem to ignore common sense and really screw things up. SEC Officiating has become complete garbage. Something needs to happen because it’s ruining the game. Would love to see coaches call out the league more and/or more support for some kind of accountability for crews that make horrible calls that affect the outcome of big games.

It drives me crazy that they call reviews differently depending on the magnitude of call as well. The Miami vs Va Tech final review was absolute BS and they only overturned it because it was a game changing call, but if it would have happened in the 1st Quarter they would have left it as plays stands.

I think we're going to find out at some point that power conference officiating has a significant number of Tim Donaghy types in its ranks. I think the majority are honest but it only takes a few well placed crooked officials to make some sport book a ton of money. I'm not certain of what kind of controls there are against them gambling too.
Frankly, I find the alum officiating a game with their alma mater's rival to be a quaint notion of how crooked officiating works. I think that trend would expose itself too obviously to be sustained for long. Broad schemes to shave points or change outcomes that does not target a specific school or set of schools is harder to fingerprint.

Hasn't the former Bama QB now ref done plenty of Auburn games?
