I was highly impressed with the receivers...matter of fact they bailed out Jalen Milroe on multiple occasions.

Not sure how you can put it on him when the quarterback left over 20 points off the board.
Wasn’t putting it on Rees’s play calling, was saying coaching in general. The decision to play Milroe at QB, the development of the OL, development of D line, etc.
Give Rees Ewers at QB, and we win that game 9 out of 10 times. I think Buchner wins it at least 7-8 out of ten. That’s on the coaching.

Emmanuel is out for several weeks with a hip injury, I think he is finally off crutches.

Ah, I see what you mean. I agree with that.

We didn't get FLAT OUT beat. Nick Saban handicapped this offense by having Jalen Milroe at quarterback and the crazy thing about it...with a ONE DIMENSIONAL OFFENSE we still took the lead from Texas...so how is that getting FLAT OUT BEAT?

Just for starters, at center, I can name you seven guys from the last 15 years that would keep our current starter hopelessly buried on the bench.
And our current starter at center would be a mean SOB if Cochran was still here. I don’t think he would be as bad if he had better coaching, and a QB that didn’t make the whole line look stupid because he doesn’t understand blitz reads.

Give Rees anybody but Milroe and we win this game last night.

My fear is that Saban won't have the balls to replace Milroe. He should've been benched last night and instead of giving another QB an opportunity, Saban just took the L.

AJ Milwee and Sark had no problem DEVELOPING talent when they were here.
You do remember the guy name Mac Jones right? He was high 3 star recruit I think.
You make my point for me. I remember a Mac Jones with Sarkisian as his OC throwing two pick sixes against Auburn.
That having been said, no, we don't have a Steve Sarkisian or a Lane Kiffin or a Dan Enos. But even with those guys, it takes more than a few weeks.

.I think we should give both Ty Buchner & Simpson their fair shake in game.
Yes, but I hope sooner rather than later we begin to work in Lonergan. He was our best qb at A Day and was really good in fall camp. We are holding him out because he is a freshman, but he can read the field and get the ball out fast to the right receiver. Next year the qb battle should be between Sayin and Lonergan and maybe Buchner.

What a meltdown in this thread.

Dan Enos ain't all that.
Sark, Lane, & AJ Milwee
AJ Milwee developed the quarterbacks and receivers when he was here and that's no cap.

Bro,
He played with no pressure on him. I do believe he has the potential and I wouldn't mind him getting an opportunity vs USF either.

No meltdown...just people stating their opinions which is what I love about these forums.

If we don’t start a new qb against south Florida, Saban has lost it. If we are canning the season let’s at least do it with a competent quarterback. Last night was absolutely unacceptable. Period.

The issue is that there’s no great QBs on the roster. Milroe was not good, but it’s likely the other QBs are worse in other areas. Buchner had 6 TDs and 8 INTs for Notre Dame last year. Simpson has never played a meaningful snap.

You don't need a QB to be great...you just need them to be above average to good and not beat you with stupid mistakes. There were guys running WIDE OPEN all night
That's exactly why Ty Simpson needs to see the field to actually see what he can do in a game.
Everybody behind Jalen Milroe is a better quarterback than him including Kristian Story & Branson Hubbard.

Simpson doesn’t need the first shot from what I’ve seen but any change would be welcomed right now, it can’t get much worse at QB.

This. The game was pretty much over after he threw the 2nd interception and Saban still didn’t change the QB. Completely inexcusable. He never should have had a chance to lead the TD drive that Saban claims kept him in the game.
Any team will stack the box, blitz all night, play 1:1 coverage, and dare us to throw all game. Milroe will hit a long one from time to time against that defense, but the multiple turnovers will doom us against any decent defense. That just shows how good our talent is that a 1 read QB could score that many points.

O-Line too heavy? Yes and no. Too heavy at RT & LT to pass protect against speed rush and too heavy to hold up on pass pro for as long as JM needs to find the open WR's. The O-line is built to be road graders. However, the good teams we face can load the box and use slants/run stunts to kill the road grader advantage because our QB cannot manage a basic passing game that involves more thn one choice of WR on any given play.
RB's? RW and JAM cannot pass protect to save their lives but they both can be good inside zone / outside zone RB's. Jase is "OK" at pass pro and he is an outside zone RB. Haynes will be our best all around RB but his pass pro skills are not there yet. Young is an I back and edge back but is not yet physically ready to be the type of RB we need. Henderson is too slight to be the type of RB we need. The move to WR was a good choice.
Nothing left to say on QB other than TB and TS need a chance to show what they can do because JM is not the answer.
WR's? They looked good. Had the best game of any possition group yesturday. They got open. Ran pretty clean routes. They did not have a QB who could get them the ball. Texas shut down the first choice with coverage focus but progression options were there most of the night.
DL? Otis needs to be in the middle and we need a couple of DE options to step up
Pass rush? Our DL is being taught to occupy blockers and push the middle. The coaching is depending on ILB and OLB to provide the rush. #13 is a good edge blitz option but his ankle and needing his in pass coverage vs a Sark attack kept him out of the option list for the Texas game. Sark schemed Will Anderson out of the game last year. He did the same with Dallas yesturday.
Pass coverage? They are fine on the back end but injuries up the middle and youth made them volnerable to the Sark Attack. #1 played a very good game. Sark destroyed #3 and #9
Rees? I thought he called a pretty good game but the QB could not execute what Rees set up for him.
