If every program followed your logic, the following coaches would be getting fired: Lane Kiffin, Brian Kelley, Brent Venables, Hugh Freeze, Mike Elko. Texas would have fired Sark years ago. Kirby would have been fired year one at UGA. Heupal fired at UT. Saban fired year one at Bama

I expect Milroe to have an incredible game Saturday, announce he's coming back for his senior year in his on field interview, ESPN instantly starts hyping him for the Heisman next season, & all of us have to keep living in purgatory for another 365 days.

I’m not going to argue. You clearly see it different.

Did any of them inherit a roster like Alabama? And I didn’t say KD should be fired. I said no one should be understanding of those losses.

Saturday worries the hell out of me about the future of the program. Missing the 12 team playoff, losing to our two biggest rivals, and throw in a loss to Vandy in Year 1 is a tough pill to swallow.

DeBoer could very well be an elite tier coach but getting off on such a bad foot could derail things. Many fine coaches have been eaten up by the SEC.

3 road losses

We looked like shite in Knoxville and Norman.

We couldn’t stop a nosebleed in Nashville and spotted them a 14pt lead.

Will be interesting to see the changes that are made going forward and if we will look like a competent road team next year.

I agree 100% with everything you said Spencer Pennington. I’d also like to take back the negative things I said about you last night as a quarterback. You played quarterback pretty good for a baseball player. I do however think you’re a better poster than a quarterback

Sark got a pretty decent roster from Tom
Herman. Kirby got a decent roster. Saban got an average roster....with far more talent than La Monroe or Miss State

At this point you have to let it play out. Obviously some pieces for DeBoer to work with, but you can't really judge him until he is really into year 3. If it looks this bad then, then you start judging. Otherwise you just have to assume he is dealing with the hand he is dealt.

I would say barring a losing season next year. Coach DeBoer is probably here a minimum of three years either way. Can't really knee jerk fire a guy

You can evaluate/judge a guy from game 1 but you shouldn't expect employment decisions until year 3. As I've said elsewhere, we're heading on a trajectory of termination in November/December 2026 right now.

Literally all we had to do is beat the teams were supposed to and lose to the toss up games and we're in this year. That's a tough pill to swallow.

This is such a load of BS. It begs repeating but if fans like you actually got your way, Alabama would be scraping the bottom of the barrel in the SEC with the quickness

This is the overriding factor. Until he is gone and you have a season with a competent qb, I don’t think you can judge yet. It’s really hard to assess with such poor qb play

If we keep on losing to 6-6/7-5 caliber teams on the road, DeBoer will get fired after the third year of that happening assuming it means no playoffs like it does this year. At programs like Alabama, a coach is getting 3-4 years to make the playoffs or they’re toast. With a 12-team playoff that is the goal of any program in the top end of the power conferences now.

Agreed. But as I said earlier, DeBoer had to have known the situation that he was walking into with the subpar throwing quarterback. Coaches have to be leaders. Sometimes being a leader is making tough decisions about pulling players who aren’t getting the job done.

Saban lost several Iron Bowls he shouldn't have.

And almost allowed a horrendous Arkansas team to beat him last year as well as an embarrassingly bad Auburn team. Not to mention the south Florida shitshow after Texas clapped his cheeks - a Texas team that Deboer defeated for the second consecutive year.

I know a win is a win but if the GOAT struggled to beat trash teams with this same roster (excluding the likes of Downs, Amos, Turner, Bond, Arnold, etc.) then it was foolish to expect any other coach to pick up the pieces and go 12-0. Absolutely foolish.

I think we put far too much stock into this team's potential after forgetting how close we came to losing four games last year against teams with losing records. Had we not converted that miracle play against Auburn or stopped Arkansas from pulling off the upset, Deboer's leash would probably be a lot longer right now.
