Hurts has improved over the course of the season. He's still a relatively young player. Hopefully his improvement continues. His accuracy on those intermediate throws as the season has gone on has really seemed to improve.

Just for fun
Both in their 2nd year 9 games in offense in yards and tds.
Can you guess who they are?
QB-A 4483 yards and 35 TDs
QB-B 5756 yards and 57 TDs

Cecil Hurt commenting on people calling for Tua saying we won't win a NC without him having a role...

quote:
“Alabama could win the national championship with Jalen playing,” Hurt told Gary Harris. “And it just reaches a point where you can blather about it all you want but the coaching staff and the head coach didn’t think it would help them win the game to put him in against LSU. So if you know more than he does, great.
“But to sit there and say ‘they can’t do this unless they put the backup quarterback in’ is the stupidest thing I ever heard. And if anybody's telling you that, tell them they’re stupid. Thank you.

But oh yeah, the receivers suck. I forgot about that.
I don't really agree with you most of the time on Hurts, but I will say that while I, like many, think Jalen had a lowkey good game, there are certain people here who think issues are never Jalen's fault. It's always gotta be the WRs, or the OL, or Daboll, etc etc. Sometimes it IS Jalen's fault. Sometimes it IS the WR's fault. Sometimes it IS the OL's fault. Sometime it IS Daboll's fault.

AJ definitely wasn't a runner, but man as much as I love Blake/Jake/Jalen do I miss the AJ days
Jalen coming for a Heisman next year though

Yeah AJ had some clutch arse plays I do miss his style. Although he did run from time to time
Posted on 11/8/17 at 5:51 pm to CrimsonBoz
AJ had all world OL blocking for him for three years and a run game to match. Jalen has as good of running backs but our OL hasn't been the same since Pendry and stoutland left.

True, though the 2013 OL wasn't very good. Still, those 2011 and 2012 OLs were

I don't mean this in a disrespectful way of Pendry is sick or anything but Sbana needs to get his old rear end out of retirement and bring him out there to coach. Keys has better talent to work with than Stoutland or Pendry ever had and Pendry turned three stars into NFL players

Ehh, taking nothing away from Pendry, but the only 3 that fit that description are Antoine Caldwell, Marlon Davis, and Chance Warmack.
Caldwell was a returning starter, Davis was an NFL practice squader for 2 years, and Warmack was only a 1 year starter under Pendry.
Stout was the best we've seen...

This is an apple & orange comparison. Completely different styles.
If you compare them, I think you look at the below only:
Jalen has 4186 passing yards, 33 TDs, 10 Ints
AJ had 4473 passing yards, 35 TDs, 8 Ints

Because clearly gaining yards and scoring TDs with your feet don't count.

So, because they are different types of QBs, we are to discount one of Hurts's major attributes when comparing him to other QBs? Production is production, friend.

AJ passed for about 15 yards more per game and 2 more TDs & 1 less int per season than Jalen. Not much difference.
