I know 2008,2013, and 2014 were really good but this class is stacked at every level of the defense. So excited about this group and hopefully they can get us back to playing elite defense.

It's definitely got a strong argument, especially in the front seven.

I'd wait for the dust to settle.

We thought last year was amazing and by camp we had Alfano and Scooby in the portal.

Really hoping the experience and struggles the young guys went thru last year pays huge dividends this year.

Idk we’ll see, but on this topic, the other day I saw the clip of Reuben Foster drilling Deshaun Watson and spinning him in the air in the NC game. What i also saw in the clip was Minkah Fitzpatrick and Marlon Humphrey both closing in to clean it up if he got away. I forgot how badass that defense was.
Reuben, Minkah, and Humphrey - and that was just the tip of the iceberg

I hope our defense approaches that level again sometime soon

I just hope they’re mean. There’s clearly a pile of talent. I hope we signed a thug or two and a leader or two tbh. Keep the thugs away from rounders and mad at SEC quarterbacks. Keep them mad at their teammates that aren’t doing their jobs. I just want someone capable of a RM halftime speech. We need guys of the mentality that we’re showing up to kick your arse, not we’re Bama and you need to fold. Good heavens the bunch in ‘11 was absolutely hateful. What an apt name Saban gave them. It’s such a difficult task at this juncture, but it’s the reason that Saban isn’t watching ducks shite in the yard.

It's getting close to D-Day and I guess McKinley Jackson has to be the biggest get out there for us. But it sure is nice for the last month and a half to have most of the hay in the barn. Cherry pickin' season isn't nearly as stressful as a few years ago. I'm sure the coaches and recruits feel the same.

AL.com had an article up this week entitle: "They Killed Football Recruiting Season, Didn't They?" The short answer, no. They moved the recruiting season up and apparently AL.com missed it.

If we could find the next Courtney Upshaw that would be great. I think he is one of the best players ever to play at Bama. We need to find more like him.

Just depends. Upshaw was a big boy with a very thick body type. It's hard to say how he would translate against these HUNH spread teams.

We are already having to qualify offensive stats because of rule changes and a different style of coaching. Our defensive principles seem to be going through the same transition.

The 2011 defense and the way it was built seems like a long time ago.
