Middle LBer needs to be manned by the likes of a Rolando McClain, CJ Mosely, Rashaan Evans, Reuben Foster, Dion Hamilton, Dylan Moses type. Lee is kinda the anti-MLB of the fast-twitch group. I can see his place on the team and getting him in on running downs and goal-line stuff is cool. But it's hard to be an every-down MLBer and struggle to chase.

Yeah, but if it's "alligator speed" as Saban calls it, that 40 time is deceiving. Starting from a 3-point stance and exploding in one direction is very different from needing to change direction and chase down a RB in the flats.
had a 4.45s 20 yard shuttle, not bad at all. Harris had a 4.41 at 25lbs lighter.

Reggie Ragland just won a Superbowl at middle linebacker. He doesn't play on passing Downs. Not that I see Shane Lee even getting into NFL. Just mentioning that you don't have to be perfect run-stopper and cover guy to get playing time..

Those are impressive for a near 250 pound linebacker. Maybe the guy surprises us and turns into a monster in 2021.

Which is why I clearly stated that I can see Lee playing for us in run situations and in the red zone. Look, CJ Mosely spent 2 seasons subbing with Nico Johnson at the Will LBer. Coach has always used the talent available in a variety of subpatterns.

It may also be true that it was easier to get defensive players on and off the field in down and distance situations back then, we can still use Lee just as we mix and match our DL. I easily can see Lee playing a lot of football for us against power run teams like Tennessee, Georgia, and the like on our schedule.
