I keep hearing how alabama can't afford a buyout and survive when we have auburn throwing millions and millions around like dollar bills in a strip club. Are they that much more secure with their programs wealth than we are?
Also, I keep hearing how alabama can't compete with tOSU, Oregon, Texas, LSU, T A&M and so on in the NIL era. If so, we don't stand a chance as the way things are now with absolutely zero limits.
All this money talks concerns me about the future of our program...anyone else feel the same? It appears that money is the name of the game now and that this agenda was pushed by schools out of the SEC, so they would have the upper hand.

Alabama is top ten in NiL. They will never have Texas school money, Ohio state Oregon or Michigan money. Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU all around the same in NiL is what I’ve heard.

NIL fundraising is just like political fundraising. They're going to play the pauper and send dire subject line emails to stir up more donations.

Alabama is not anywhere near poor in NIL funding. We're one of the very best in terms of NIL support but, as others said, we're never winning an arms race with the very top. Our future will depend on superior player development.

NIL matters. But it also did not help Miami and Ole Miss get into the playoff this year. Both had sketchy coaching and it bit them in the arse.

Sharing $25 million with the players is going to take a big chunk of the athletic Budget, plus eventually going to 105 scholarships actually will add 40 scholarships due to Title 9. Baseball will be moving to 34 full scholarships. These are huge hits to the athletic Budget

The settlement coming up this spring will have an impact on if the new arena will be built.

I get that but I don't want to become a school that develops top talent players only to be plucked away by deep pocket schools! I'm afraid, without some NIL limits that's what we will become.

I think we'll have enough money to keep our guys but we're not going to be deep so the guys we got need to be ready to play which means the player development needs to better than we've had in some time.

I get the sentiment that Tejas has big money therfore they will always have a leg up on the competition. But Sankey gift-wrapped the SEC for Tejas and they couldn't get it done. They have beaten 1 ranked team this year-Clemson. They're also in a one score rock fight with ASU in the Peach bowl as I type this.

Edit: Ewers just made it a 2 score rock fight.

Auburn does have the advantage of having the states only billionaire fronting them. I do think that some of the upper echelon schools outside of the SEC pushed this NIL with no limits deal to make it an arms race that the SEC could not win. I also think our athletic department screwed the pooch when it comes to replacing Coleman. There was a brief window of time when we could’ve gotten it done, but we drug our feet and missed the opportunity. Now it’s not when we do it. It’s if we do it.
