Good interview from last week with Ty Simpson. Seems like a great kid.

Ty starts around the 6:30 mark

Ty likely transfers in the off season. The staff does not want him. Its clear.

Saban really gave Simpson a raw deal. Left DeBoer with the Milroe fiasco in the process.

If he is I'll be 100% behind him but I don't think he's the guy.

No. It's Mack truck time.

And then a change up with Russell.

Pick up 3rd in portal or retain someone like Ty or Longerdong...

Nobody ahead of Mack in years on campus would stay if he was named the starter.

DeBoer didn't bring that kid from Folsom, CA to sit behind Ty Simpson.
Austin Mack will start next season unless he is injured.

He'll play 3 years and then hand it off to Russell for 2.

Russell is not going to sit behind him either.

That's when you make sure the QB competition bleeds over into the first game or two of the season.

So be untruthful with the players?

Russell isn’t going to sit 3 years. If Mack is good enough to start over Russell for 2 years he’d leave after that for the NFL.

Doubt Russell would stay and sit for 2 yrs.

The best damn quarterback needs to start, period. We've seen where seniority has gotten us.

I agree the best player should start. Too bad Saban rarely did that.

He will for at least 2 years.
My guess is that Mack will be a star in year 3.

Amen. Best player start. Leave the politics and NIL "arraignments" at the door.

I think it will be Mack before Ty. Coach brought him in from Udub for a reason

How else would you propose having a legitimate QB competition while also preserving enough of the QB room to protect against injuries if the guy with the most remaining eligibility wins? Saban did it a few times.
