I’ll disagree on Buchner he at practice and the scrimmage was leaps ahead of Simpson. That’s why he is 2. He doesn’t buckle under pressure and can run the offense. His arm might not be the best but when you can hit the short and intermediate throws it doesn’t matter. Hopefully we won’t need him but he is the 2QB.

This isn’t high school football and some players may look elite in high school but can’t transition to the college game. It’s more than having an electric arm there’s plenty of players that have that and can’t handle the elite college game.

You can tell arm strength from YouTube videos man. I never said Simpson was ready to start. I’ve been one of the few guys who’s being saying that Milroe was the guy for over a year because his tape was great when he got in.
Buchner was a below 55% career completion percentage passer against mostly garbage competition. He threw 5 interceptions last year against South Carolina and Marshall combined.
The videos of him from practice show multiple passes in the dirt. His passes last night rainbowed to the receivers. He sucks. Simpson has talent and needs to get pt so he can be ready if we need him.

I don’t disagree with you often but you are off on this point. You have to be able to throw deep in SEC play. I’d you don’t defenses will just put 9 in the box, play tight man coverage, and blitz you to death. Not buckling under pressure in practice matters but not as much as coaches make it seem. Some guys are able to be practices warriors because they can rationalize that making a mistake in practice isn’t the end of the world as long as they stick to the playbook. Buchner also likely knew that he wasn’t beating out Milroe and didn’t feel the pressure Simpson did to press him. That’s just a guess on my part though.

I think he only threw 2 deep last night. His first wasn’t great and his second was on the money but had PI. Hard to say he sucks.

I hope I’m wrong Boz. It looked like he was throwing it to the the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow to me.

God forbid anyone voice an opinion on a fricking MESSAGE FORUM.

Some of you pricks are insufferable.

You take yourselves and this forum too seriously. I ALWAYS picture the people who do this as those fat 50-something guys running ahead of the children to get Coach Saban’s autograph on their jersey at A-Day and you think Coach Saban is going to send you a personal letter of commendation for defending his honor on discussion forums.

You know maybe Simpson lacks leadership ability. Maybe Simpson doesn’t command the offense like Saban wants. Maybe the players respect Buchner a little more. Maybe there’s a reason Simpson was #3 last night. And last but not least maybe more than likely you have no clue what you’re talking about

There is no denying his first sling wasn’t great. I’m just saying I think he only threw 2.

I've read multiple people say that Simpson is the best pure passer of the bunch, but has a bad habit of letting 1 mistake turn into 5 because he starts pressing.

He throws a nice ball. He doesn’t command the offense like the other 2. At the scrimmage it stuck out, he gets indecisive as well.

If I understand correctly, coaches should base playing time on something other than the way players perform in practice or knowledge of the playbook? Bold strategy for sure.

The idea that a guy is better than another guy who he doesn’t perform better than in practice makes no sense.

Players gain trust of coaches in practice. That’s just how it is. In every sport for all time.

Simpson is not even the third best QB on the roster imo. Longeran has looked light years better than him in scrimmages. Simpson has arm talent, but that's it. He doesn't command the offense and constantly throws to covered receivers. Only reason he is 3 is because Longeran is a true freshman.
