According to John Mitchell of BamaHammer LINK , football is expected to get 75%, men’s bball 15%, women’s bball 5%, everyone else gets to fight over the remaining 5%

Your graph comparison isn’t on comparable axis’

Women’s sports are -5M to 0M. Your men’s is -20M to 0M

It’s entirely possible men’s swimming hemorrhages similar costs to women’s sports but we can’t tell with the limited view

It's like you didn't notice i chose the most cash hemorrhaging sport on each side. Then there's the entire women's swimming costs more than the men, due to title 9 disparity, and it was 8th in women's sports losses. There are plenty of contextual clues that should have led you away from that conclusion

I’m shocked we chose basketball as the women’s sport to invest in. I thought surely it would be softball.

I think they’re reading the tea leaves there. Women’s basketball is mildly catching on after 30 years of the nba funding the wnba while losing more money than the GDP of most nations.

Now, Caitlin Clark, Hailey Van arse, and that troglodyte Reese are all over the tv and we’re trading international arms dealers to bail out Brittany Griner for dabbing in Russia. Can’t see that happening for softball any time soon.

Because they don’t have to do it to recruit anymore so why don’t they do it out of the kindness of their hearts?

Context is everything. You copied portion of article and didn't bother to include rest.

They actually get something out of sponsoring athletes who are famous in their markets. That only applies to basketball, football, and specific athletes in other sports.

What do they get out of sponsoring athletes of other sports that the overwhelming majority of the general public doesn't follow?

Where does this leave adapted athletics?

Am I correct in assuming they are screwed and their programs in danger of going extinct?

I honestly don't know. Are those counted in scholarship numbers?

I don’t believe these are currently considered NCAA sports, so I don’t think it impacts them. It might preclude them from becoming NCAA sports in the future.

I’ve always used troglodyte in basketball as post player who is unskilled just kind of bumping around like a cave man with a basketball.

Troglodyte means cave person but I guess it looks like some people have co-opted it to mean other things or used it in a way that wasn’t intended here and the etymology is a bit sketchy too. So that’s my bad for not really thinking it could be misinterpreted that way.

I think Reese is super annoying and I hate how she plays basketball, but my intent wasn’t anything beyond that. That’s my bad.

I’m actually pretty shocked(and happy) to see Tennessee on the lower end of revenue.

They have a decent success in football, basketball and they’ve had a lot of success in baseball. Seemingly have a lot of fan support and they’re the only real team in the state. I’d have guessed their revenue would’ve been higher up the list.

This tweet has since been deleted - but using 2024 revenue numbers, it had projected Bama dividing up the $20,5 million this way:

Football 15.32 million
MBB 2.31 million
Baseball $133,000
Gymnastics $132,000
WBB $53,191
Softball $49,000
Plus $2.5 million in new scholarships

Softball players getting a cool 1.9k check if we’re at max scholarships. Feel like the existing cost of living moneys were a better advance for non-revenue athletes than this settlement.
