We definitely don't want our athletes using it if it makes you lazy, non motivated. Even if its temporary.

Having lived in Los Angeles for close to a decade, I can’t recall a single person having “a guy” for pot. You just went to a dispensary and got some edibles or what not.

No one is trying to skim $4 in taxes by using a jank, unreliable hookup that can take an hour to get to you in his 2012 Nissan Altima

In Alabama you had to have your dealer and essentially coordinate whatever time of day, or even day itself he was available to give you some generic unpredictable product. In most cases that dealer was someone in your own fraternity house

There aren’t “illegal sales” in California because, to be blunt, the cops do not waste their time on that. I don’t know anyone ever arrested for Marijuana

Pots not my thing, but it’s a bit humorous seeing how much we burned in Alabama on it and California just turned it into a generic revenue generator like cigarettes or alcohol. Once a year you might smell it in public and that’s it

No, it's not a fact. He broke the law. There is no broader story than that

That isn't the fact that we were talking about. The quote you responded to:

quote:

people claimed we here on Alabama are brainwashed about marijuana

its not a claim, its a fact. and its not just folks in Alabama

quote:

Whether or not anyone agrees or disagrees with the law he broke is irrelevant to that discussion.

Cool, but we were going off on a tangent about how dumb it is that its illegal.

Most people I know in Alabama just get it shipped from a legal state, or just flies to a legal state and bring it back.

Like you said, I can't imagine that many people at all are messing with cartel weed these days. And saying that legalization doesn't/hasn't hurt cartels at all is absolutely ridiculous. Of course is has. How would it not?

According to court documents, agents found marijuana, a rolling tray, packaging material, and a Promethazine bottle in the TV entertainment center. Agents also found marijuana in a black and red backpack in a bedroom and in a suitcase next to a shoe rack. Agents also found marijuana and a rolling tray under Holloway's bed and in a box in a spare bedroom.

Holloway stated that the marijuana in the closet was "old," and he "did not like how it smoked," and he was trying to figure out how to get rid of it

Holloway told agents that he did not grow it, and that he "only smokes." He estimated that he had "probably a quarter pound."

He allowed agents to search his phone, which showed drug transactions with "people texting that they were going to get up with him after the season."

You just agreed with my post while also disagreeing with your own post:

It's not a revenue generator. That's the point I was making. Not saying that means it should be illegal, but it does not solve any governmental budgetary problems whatsoever.

Of course it doesn't. They just sell it legally in those states.

Yes it is, because that's what was being discussed when the comment that people in Alabama are brainwashed about post was made. It isn't about whether or not people believe it should be illegal. It isn't legal.

States with legal marijuana aren't really seeing a decrease in illegal sales because taxing makes it cost more than buying it illegally.

So how are so many dispensaries staying in business if there was no decrease in illegal sales? These can't all be customers who started post legalization/medical.

California's pot economy is crashing. What comes next?

This article is from 2024. Not sure where you guys are getting the idea that legal pot stores are thriving. It just isn't happening.

quote:

Overall sales have been falling for the past two years. The number of legal cannabis growers and brands has decreased by more than 70% since legalization first went into effect, according to the Mercury News. A recent report found that pot companies owe the state more than $730 million in back taxes, money that California likely will never see as most of those companies have already folded.

Furthermore, very few new farms are opening, even in places like Humboldt County, the original capital of cannabis cultivation in California. Overall employment in the legal industry is also falling. Even the sacred mantra of California’s cannabis market — that it’s the largest legal market for weed in the world — is at risk, as Michigan now sells more cannabis products per month than California.

I was unaware California spoke for every states cannabis market.

Since 2017, the number of dispensaries are up 2900% in my state from 24 to over 700. 3rd most populous state in the union.

I used California because we were talking about California, but t's the same story everywhere. Any state that has had legal pot for a while is going through this same issue. People get excited and open a bunch of stores, people don't frequent said stores and they all start shutting down quickly.

Your state will go through the same scenario every other state has gone through.
