He’s lucky they didn’t tag him with distribution!

Don't blame him. Dude had weed. He didn't rape anyone. Didn't diddle kids. Wasn't selling fentanyl. Just weed. I bet half the coaching staff gets blazed every night

At least he’s not an accessory to murder.

Illegal stuff is illegal

Like most everyone, I don’t care about weed but at the end of the day wrong is wrong. A lot of what’s wrong with society today is coddling people, and not holding them accountable for their own actions. I won’t cut biz any slack, just because I think it should be OK. His actions are a bad look on the team and university.

I’d be OK with Nate allowing him to continue and I’d also be OK with them expelling him. Brought it on himself

He knew damn well he shouldn’t have been dealing drugs, but at the very least he got greedy I would have hoped the coaching staff is very adamant about players doing illegal activities

I’m telling you this task force’s spring sweeps in Tuscaloosa is just hassling college students into ratting one another and not a single genuine kingpin is jailed. It’s just a pissant annoyance to justify their existence.

You have to blame him though. He just took a substantially big risk that he knew (at least I hope) would have a tremendous ripple effect if he got caught. He hurt himself, his team and his family. Alabama has some of the silliest laws on the book's but most of us understand it's one thing to be caught with a pinch hitter in your car. It's another to be raided under the suspicion that you have a borderline commercial operation of illegal drug sales

This right here.

It doesn't matter what your thoughts on the law are, the point is Holloway decided to not only risk his future playing career but also to hurt the team by selling weed in this day and age. A pound of weed is crazy, it's not like a little joint was found.

This puts a hard cap on Alabama's ceiling in the tournament and once again puts us in the spotlight and of course in a negative light. If Holloway is back next season, he has a lot of growing up to do.

Really good article. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Wish it wasn’t happening at all.

We’ve always had a segment of our fan base that will always make every excuse under the sun for any of our players, no matter what they did, even if it’s terrible.

“He didn’t get an ice cream cone when he was five and that caused him to murder that entire bus load of nuns.”

“Yeah, what he did was bad but he’s found Jesus.”

“Everybody breaks the law. Laws are optional.”

No, this guy didn’t murder anyone but the point is the moral/ethical contortions some here will go through to justify no consequences for this guy.

I don’t have a clue what will happen but I hope he doesn’t get any special treatment just because he can play basketball. A fair trial and let the chips fall where they may.

I know I’ll be downvoted to the moon but I don’t care.

This is a bad faith argument. No one got on here and said D Miles should stay on the team. Or Eddie Williams or Jimmy Johns.

I think there can be nuance to these types of things.

100% of people on here have broken the speed limit.

98% have text while driving

I would bet 90% of the people on here have drank and drove at some point(a crime that ends lives regularly).

Most people in life have done something that, if luck didnt go their way, their lives would be significantly negatively impacted. Having sympathy and empathy toward people who make mistakes(especially mistakes that are victimless) isn’t a bad thing.

It has nothing to do with Aden being an Alabama athlete. If Jimmy Joe down the street was arrested with a pound of weed, baggies, and a scale I would think “wow that sucks for him. That was dumb. I really hope he lands on his feet.”

If anything the only negative is that he’s an Alabama player and has a ton of money riding on not getting in trouble vs Jimmy Joe who will just miss a few shifts at Jiffy Lube

I’m on record saying law is all political even the base level criminal enforcement. This shite ain’t transcendent.
