Losing to Vandy is kind of a microcosm of Tide football over the last year plus. We needed a 31yd hail mary to beat a shitty Auburn team last year. Then turned around and played a great game against UGA to win the SECCG. We could have easily lost 2-3 games last year and do the same this year and I would not be shocked.

I'd argue that its a microcosm of a lot of things concerning young folks and performance these days. Too many distractions. Every little distraction takes away from focus and preparing. Focusing and preparing=consistency. Hell, Cornell students can't even focus enough to read a full book these days.

Does the Vandy loss count for MORE than just one loss? Would be kind of difficult to leave an 11-1 team out of the playoffs that's only loss is to Vandy, right?

Every team except Texas has a loss in the SEC right now, and it’s not like Vandy was 0-4 coming into that game. I also doubt Vandy loses the rest of their games this season. They have some bad losses, but they obviously have some good wins now including one over Virginia Tech who arguably should have a win over Miami right now. The AP poll has Bama at 7. Bama still controls its destiny if they win out, but another loss will make it difficult.

I didn't figure this was hard - Georgia State defeated Vandy 2 games ago. But hey, you keep being you

Aggie doesn't have an SEC loss. Jussayin.

Everything BAMA wants is still in front of them. Just win, baby.

No, but they lost to a team that lost to NIU.

By that rationale, I guess NIU is better than uga.

What does that do for Bama? I'm sure they watched plenty of tape of it but to replicate it at game speed is not so easy. I'll take George Teague's word on it before I take a keyboard warrior like yourself. And no, he didn't excuse the way the defense played and the lack of preparation by the coaching staff.

I don't get the obsession with ranking. It means nothing.

You either get in the playoff, or you don't.

You either win the NC, or you don't.

This is Alabama Football.

I don't feel like this is a playoff team--not enough depth, not enough consistency. I hope to be proven wrong.

Meantime I don't care if we're ranked 10, 15, or 20th. All that matters is wins and losses.

A team ranked #104 defeated Vandy two weeks before Vandy defeated the number 1 team in the nation. If that isn't on the coaches, then I have no idea about anything any more

Just saying, any Saturday can be a perfect storm for an upset. Bama is obviously still held in high regard after losing to Vandy…dropped 6 spots. This loss will either make or break this team.

Sure it is. But how do you replicate it for the defense to understand? Do you put Jalen Milroe on the scout team offense? And even if you did, I don't think he would make the perfect reads and throws that the Pavia made.

We literally saw a team score 28 straight points against Georgia in one quarter and then lose to Vandy in consecutive weeks. What happens one week doesn’t mean you can’t fix it and progress forward or have a bad week later. Bama almost lost to Auburn last year and then beat Georgia the following week. Having the #1 rank and Saban talking shite had Vandy fired up. Bama always brings out the best in its opponents when they don’t have a defeated attitude from the start.

Apples and Oranges, my friend. Vandy... we are not talking Auburn. Vandy - ranked 54th with a terrible loss to GA State two weeks before. This is not the same level as the Auburn/Georgia game. But hey, we can certainly disagree. Why be united now???

I’m not saying it’s not a bad loss, but Vandy is better coached than Auburn, and their qb is a hell of a lot better than Auburn’s. They beat Virginia Tech who should’ve upset Miami if not for a few freak plays. They also took an undefeated Missouri team to overtime which gave them a tremendous confidence boost. Combine that with a bunch of self-absorbed kids that think they will win by just showing up, and you have the right ingredients for an upset.
