Will Anderson, Alabama Football React to Heisman Snub (SI)

While Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young will be making the trip to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist, Anderson will be staying behind in Tuscaloosa.

Poor Auburn. That was the single stat that they had to brag about vs Alabama. Now Saban has taken that from them. lol

Haters gonna hate

(The link is to the story about the story and not the actual click-bait story itself)

AuburnWire argues Bryce Young does not deserve to win the Heisman. Here's why
quote:

Dawe argues that Young is not the best player on his own team, has boosted stats thanks to skill players around him and is not as good as another quarterback that is also a Heisman Finalist. The story goes into detail for each claim.

Once upon a time - not too long ago - the Barners could brag about having 2 heisman winners and their greatest rival, Alabama, had none. This went on for years and even decades.

Then Saban came along and the greatest dynasty in college football was born. With Saban at Bama, in just 3 years Alabama got their 1st heisman winner, Mark.

Of course the Barners consoled themselves with the thought that they still had 1 more heisman winner than their greatest rival and that Mark had just barely gotten the votes to win. And then the next year, along came Cam, all bought and paid for. Cam won the heisman and beat Alabama and they were ecstatic. Their happy world was righted. They were better than Alabama.

But 5 years later and Bama had their 2nd heisman winner, Derrick. The Barners consoled themselves again, knowing they still could brag about having 1 more heisman winner than their instate rival.

But, the dynasty kept rolling and a few years later (with several Alabama players coming close), Bama got their 3rd heisman winner, DeVonta. It was all tied up and you could hear the gnashing of teeth in Lee county.

The very next year, Alabama now has the chance for their 4th heisman winner, a QB winner at that; and the Barners are losing their minds. Alabama will now be better in the one stat that Auburn was so proud of.

The only thing they will have left, is the 2013 kick six game and their voodoo stadium.

Very interesting stat...

Alabama may be the only school to have a Heisman winner, Devonta Smith, during his career at Bama, catch TD passes from FOUR (4) Heisman finalists (Jalen, Tua, Mac, & Bryce) and possibly a Heisman winner (Bryce).

Bama's last 4 starting QBs were heisman finalists.

Jalen's heisman year was after his transfer.

Tua in New York 2018

Jalen in New York 2019

Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith Heisman ceremony 2020

I believe that DeVonta will be honored this year because they had no ceremony in New York last year.

At this point with the way the media is legitimately hating Bama players are we sure BY is going to win the Heisman?

I wouldn't be too surprised if they don't give that defensive guy the heisman over Bryce. Like the gave it to a defensive guy, Woodson, over Peyton Manning.

Southern bias and Bama fatigue.

If they do, they lose all their credibility. He's not even the best defensive player option to give it to.
But like you said, nothing would surprise me when you're dealing with these voters.

I don't know but I think that map is probably the fan votes, the total of which will count as 1 vote in the selection. Those fan votes would be known already, whereas the media votes and former heisman winner votes are not, or at least are not supposed to be yet know.

It’s even less than that - sorry to mislead. It’s geo-tracked Twitter data (from an SI article in Tidings)

quote:

Remember that note from last week about how BetOnline did a keyword association map based on geo-tracked Twitter data over the last four weeks, and had Young leading in 26 states and C.J. Stroud ahead in 16? Here's the map, which might be similar to the regional results when the final numbers are revealed Saturday:

Media has been pretty damn complimentary about Young for the most part.

Plus Heisman has massive qb bias

If Bryce wins, he will be our 1st QB. I hope politics doesn't keep him from winning.

Pittsburg lit up their tallest skyscraper campaigning for Kenny Pickett. LINK

Ohio state is sending out emails to various media outlets campaigning for him to win. LINK

In the meantime, Alabama Football is campaigning for Anderson and retweeting some for Bryce Young. LINK

Splitting that vote.

Bryce is -4000 odds. He is winning it and it isn't particularly close, imo.

Nate Oats, Jaden Shackelford Remark on Heisman Trophy Finalist Bryce Young

The head coach of the Crimson Tide basketball team as well as one of its top players both wished Young luck as he heads to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
