Seriously....its a night and day difference. There is a huge disparity on explosiveness That will change next year

Miller was always not that explosive and now he’s coming off multiple injuries.

Even Haynes who was All-Big 10 for UM was slow last year after being hurt.

Deer looks explosive but small, but Crowell on film looks like the best back we’ve signed since Najee IMO and combined with Hill gives us a lot of hope for next year IMO.

JMO but if you compare how fast #3 for UGA hits the hole to what we send out there and you HAVE to see #4 isn't more than average. We can't have but just one back that is really talented. Hell, you don't see Deer having that explosive three steps that show you whether the back is going to be a playa.

We have had some big misses on O-line and D-line the last few years under Nick and a lot of that became a big issue.

O-line particularly. where the big slow lineman have to be replaced and lots of guys played this year with very little experience.

We’ve had a horrible run of offensive line coaches the last several years. The last good one we had was Kyle Flood, who left to go to Texas with Sark after 2020. Since then we’ve had:

1. Doug Marrone, who couldn’t coach or recruit.
2. Eric Wolford, who could recruit but couldn’t coach.
3. Chris Kapilovic, our current OL coach.

Would like to see a back just hit the hole full blast rather than dance around.

Hill was far below average for an SEC back in the SECCG. That was burn the tape and send him to the back of the RB rotation (if we had backups which we dont) bad.

That said at 245 and based on his HS tape I absolutely believe he can become a pass catching Brian Robinson type guy with time and better blocking ahead of him. You pair that with Deer and Crowell and you could really have something again moving forward at RB. Thats a potential top 3 RB group in the country when they figure things out IMO.

Part of whatever the issues are up front are due to scheme. I think we want to do a bunch of pulling that require more time to develop and our guys are extraordinarily slow on the IOL. The film guy was doing a breakdown pre-1st UGA game and he was just blown away with how slow we were up front with our feet at LG, RG and RT at the time (LT he said was too fat but good and he loved, loved Brailsford). I try not to blow up guys who are just limited but watching us against anyone better than Eastern Illinois and its clear we just dont have the right guys this year even before the injuries for what we're trying to do.

I think this speaks to part of why we're slow to hit some holes: the coaches want us waiting for a block that often is never getting made and defenses beat us to spots and blow up runs in the backfield.

There is no way Roberts who at 340 is a road paver OG would get an offer from this staff in 2026. Its clear they want lanky OTs who can move, smaller OGs who can pull and to clone Brailsford at center.

Right now we have basically two guys who currently fit that criteria starting, one of whom is a TF.

Until our blocking personnel matches our scheme I flat out dont expect improvement in the run game.

2026:
Tackle you have Carroll and Lloyd with some other young guys who fit that mold so if they're ready we could be set.
Guard you have Formby who needs to lose weight and I see a portal add inside coming.
Center I just cant see us not adding someone in the portal unless Brailsford comes back

I would pump the breaks on just assuming Crowell is going to fix this run game in 2026.

He's still going to be a freshman and a freshman coming from mid-classification AHSAA ball. Look, I graduated from a 4A school too. Crowell has probably only seen guys who can run with him and match his physicality at contact when he's camping in the Summer. During high school ball, he was playing against a lot of young men who had college football futures at UWA, UNA, and JUCO if they had offers at all. Furthermore, it seems that this Alabama staff will play freshmen liberally at every position on the field other than the offensive backfield.

I saw him a bit in the 4A championship game, he does look the part but he felt like a man playing amongst boys too. SEC only has men even on the bad teams. I'd agree that I'd suspect that he will be big time if Alabama can keep him around but there is a lot to suggest that 2026 might not be that moment.

Without a better OL no one short of Derrick Henry is fixing this run game IMO.

But I do expect him to be part of a rotation with Hill and Dear that is vastly more explosive and capable than what we had this year.

A system I’m not yet convinced is a sec caliber system.
