Folks who don't know ball reveal their lack of knowledge all the time. Maybe they'll learn one day. It's still not over, though...even with great performances by Milroe in the playoffs if Bama loses then these haters will be waiting in line to say "I told you so".

Now when this was originally posted I went on record saying that Ty Simpson hasn't us shown anything but since then against Kentucky and against Chattanooga he looked legit. Hopefully he waits his turn like Mac did but we know that's unlikely...especially with Lonergan here and Sayin coming in. Who really knows...

My issue with Unofficial Assistants is that he over criticizes Milroe still. He's hanging on for dear life to his bad take.

I have no problem telling it like it is because Milroe is still far from perfect but even when Milroe does something good he won't give him any praise. On the 3rd down toss throw to Bond in the SEC title game(shades of Bryce Young) he gave all the credit to Bond. Said Milroe was "lucky". Give me a break man.

Very true.

I was laughing at some of my takes in the thread, too. My stance since the USF game has been that Milroe was this team's best chance and we needed to hope for improvement or hold on until next year and hope Sayin was the real deal. He's proven me wrong, too, but not as wrong as some others.

As far as UAC, congrats to them on building a following, and I'm sure they know some ball, but they say a lot of stupid shite. I mean, on the first play of the game he was talking about how Roydell was wide open on the check down. But when you go back and watch it, when Milroe released the ball, Roydell was still in the middle of linemen.

hes not wrong, milroe is still missing lots of stuff that hes just not seeing, but hes seeing a hell of a lot more than he was in week two and making way better quicker decisions, so its enough to win a championship. The future is extremely bright if he can make that year 2 leap and start seeing some of these guys that are running open all over the place.

Also, i dont think either of the backups would be doing any better, its just an experience thing.

I don't think I thought Milroe would be great but I absolutely knew he needed to get some game experience under his belt before everyone threw him out with the bath water.

It's not a bad take. Has Milroe improved? Absolutely. Does he still have a long ways to go in playing the QB position? Absolutely. The best thing he's learned how to do is take care of the football, and that can't be understated. He's doing better at moving in the pocket. But he's still missing wide open, and I mean, wide open guys at least once per drive. And going for the home run when the checkdown is wide open. I have all the faith in the world that he'll continue improving and I expect him to win the Heisman next year.

People are still holding onto their bad Milroe opinion. He finished 6th in the Heisman this year. He led Alabama to a win against UGA in the SECCG, and it wasn't despite him as he had 2 passing TDs and no turnovers.

He's not perfect, but people start from that position when talking about him because they're trying to justify being wrong about him.

And what QB does not miss seeing guys wide open all of the time? I watched Beck for one or two drives vs GT and he missed 2 different guys who were WIDE open for a TD and big gain. No one says a word. But JM has Alabama haters who want TS and if he misses anything he is called on it and when he does well it is mostly ignored or at most garners "faint praise".

Along with being a great thrower, though just an improving passer, he is a great leader and incredibly clutch (Ark, UT, LSU, AU, UGA). Yet, some of the clutch throws have been criticized as being "dangerous" or lucky by a minority segment.

He's had an incredible year, even the most obtuse have to ack that. Top 5-20 in passer rating all year, finishing #4, #3 among P5. Had 6 ints all year and yet was labeled a "turnover machine" by some of the TS supporters. He never was - had one bad game with 2 ints, not 4 or 5.

Though he is not NFL-ready, if he came out this year, he would be a 2nd or 3rd round pick at worst. Maybe a late one after he blows everyone away at the combine. If he comes back he will be a Heisman favorite next year, potential #1 pick.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. I do think Milroe has plenty of room to get better, but I also think people's pride is causing them to nitpick on him when they wouldn't on other players.

You’re missing the point. It’s like communicating with the mentally challenged here at times…

Of course he needs to improve. He didn’t play well vs UGA tbh but there’s a difference in being critical and being overly critical. Big difference.

The Milroe detractors love to compare him to Hurts but Hurts was terrified to trust his arm. Not the case with Milroe. He’ll put the ball in the air.

He needs to put in work in the offseason. Throwing technique, footwork and throwing motion needs improvement. I know he can improve, though. Others act like he’ll be this version of himself for eternity.

I remember LSU fans saying the same about Jayden Daniels and now they worship him.

I feel the SECCG was a catch 22 regarding Jalen’s performance. Without him, Bama likely does not win. On the hand, if he threw a few check down routes and was a bit more accurate, Bama walks away with a similar win like the 2021 game.

Yeah, I was getting Hurts v. Clemson vibes during the 3rd quarter. Luckily he turned into Hurts v. UGa in the 4th quarter.

We as Bama fans have been spoiled by elite QB play by the last 3 QBs we've had prior to Milroe. Young came in almost a finished product. Now we have a learn on the job guy. That's OK, but it's also OK to talk about poor play.

I'd say that the big difference between the 2021 game, and the 2023 game was the 2 INTs that Bennett threw, one being a pick six. We had multiple opportunities to pick Beck that we missed. Our offense stalled in the second half in 2021 as well.
