dude was HUGE, literally ... played under perkins ... talent and size were comparable, but he hardly saw the field due to alcohol ... paralyzed in a wreck last year ...

He had created so many problems for himself. I'll reserve comment, but I do hope someone can learn from the choices he made.

Damn sad to hear that i remember watching him play in college. To young to die RIP Joe.

RIP.
Not sure why someone gave you a down vote for speaking the truth. His life was racked by substance abuse and it hurt him in his career as a football player - he would have been the first to tell one that.

Yes, he robbed a bank on McFarland Blvd.
Was caught in Georgia after trying to rob a grocery store.
When the bank surveillance photo was shown every one knew who it was.
He had since finished school and failed in the NFL. The robbery was c. 1994.

I went to church with the King family when I was a kid...Joe was quite a bit older than me, but I remember how intimidating he was.
It's good to hear he matured with age and kicked drugs.
Joe's life story is the most tragic cautionary tale I, personally, can think of.
