I might be in the minority, but I just don't get the Kiffin love. I think Kiffin is a decent to great offensive mind, with unbelievable moments of wtf scattered in between.

And those that say he has matured? Maybe he isn't chasing co-eds, but this is guy who went for it on 4th down in his own half against us last year. Yeah...analytics and whatnot. Nevermind forgetting about Derrick Henry in 2014 against OSU.

Imagine the melts if he goes for on 4th down in jerkin hair on our own 40 yard line.

Josh Gattis Wr coach.

This guy was lazy AF. He was looking to leave Alabama the moment he arrived. His lazy recruiting might explain some of the problems we're seeing at WR now.

Kiffin also f’ed us in the playoffs on the way out the door to FL Atlantic or wherever he went.

That said, I’d be excited to watch the offense if he were to succeed Coach Saban.

Who’s to say Kiffin’s not biding his time in Oxford until CNS calls it quits? It’s not a bad gig, making $4 mil or so, they love the offense, he wins 8 a year he can stay as long as he wants. Why would any coach that’s been around the circus that is Auburn athletics want any part of that mess? And it’s the hardest job in the country right now, sandwiched between the 2 premier national powers and you are expected to compete with them.

He did not want to leave. Saban cut him loose because he sensed a lack of focus from him.
Kiffin in fact offered to stay and help Sark with the game plan.
Saban said No.

P.S: Yes Kiffin would be my choice to follow Saban. Heck, even Saban might pick him. Don’t know if Kiffin would wait that long to get a blue blood job.

I'll say again for the umpteenth time who I don't want: Mario Cristobal.

The media hyped him because he's an alum and a Cuban returning to Miami. He's garbage as a head coach.
Oregon fans were glad to see him leave and warned Miami fans. Now Miami fans hate him. Last week he managed to get prison raped at home by a new coach and staff at Duke with the returnees from David Cutcliffe's 3-9 team last year. As one writer commented, "Mario Cristobal couldn't coach a dog to bark."

woof woof.

AS I said in the OP I would want to see more of their work. You look at current assistants who have great jobs like the UF coach. If he is successful, he has no reason to leave for Bama. Same with Kirby. Unless NS dies while in "office" I would assume he would have a lot of say so in his replacement. I would like to see an offensive minded HC who is stout on his Defensive philosophy and is willing to hire great DC's

The question is does he think he can win bigger at Auburn. Because I will be pretty surprised if they don't go after him to replace Harsin. It would pretty much burn his bridge to the Alabama job, but who knows if he actually wants it. Some of his public comments suggest he does and some suggest he doesn't.

If he believes he has hit his ceiling at Ole Miss(I don’t think he has) Auburn would unfortunately be a good spot for him. Chizik won a championship and Gus took them to a championship. If that can happen Kiffin can definitely get them to one. The one question about Auburn is whether or not NIL has killed their recruiting. Auburn has always paid their best guys but they don’t have unlimited funds so NIL may have leveled the playing field for teams like Ole Miss with them.

For me it is a toss up. But I would need to see more of them as a HC. Sark, JOey Freshwater, and the UM coach.

Is Kirby the only one off the table?
I would take Daboll in a heartbeat. I don’t think he likes recruiting though.
Kiffin would work in 6-8 years. Currently he’s still too immature for the Bama job.
I don’t trust Sark to keep his nose clean. I hope he does but I think the pressure gets to him again at Texas.
My first choice if it happens in the next 5 years is Dabo. I know that doesn’t fit the parameters of this thread though. Lol

The barn has some of the richest boosters in the country. They could pay more than almost anyone if they wanted to.

Dabo would crumple like an aluminum can in the SEC. His ridiculous recruiting philosophies wouldn't work at all here. Not to mention his Lil Ole Clemson schtick wouldn't fly at a place like Bama.

So many things that Dabo has done at Clemson that worked there wouldn't work at Bama in a million years. Not to mention he's not leaving the cult he built anyway.

I’m not sure where you are getting this info from. If you are including people like Tim Cook who don’t care about football at all that’s dumb. Auburn is very rich but they don’t have astronomical more booster money than Ole Miss or even Arky.

I think we need to get Glenn Schumann on our staff ASAP to see if he can be developed into a HC.

Not sure what it's going to take to rip him away from UGA.

Jimmy Rane is worth almost a billion alone. And he is infinitely more involved with Auburn football than any of the boosters at Ole Miss or Arky.

That's the point. They have as much money as anyone else but their boosters are way more involved and way more shady than most others.

i just hope we dont go back to pe saban days where each check writer thought they owned the team and were in charge.

kiffin, sark after those two i'd go billy napier before cristobol. not even sure i'd rank cristobol that high

however, i'd also like there to be no restrictions on lineage. ie, doesnt have to be tied to saban or bama

As long as Byrne is still here. I have a feeling at some point one of the conferences is going to come after him hard to be the new commish.

Strong OCs should be very stout defensively because of spending years studying defenses, identifying their weaknesses, and scheming to beat them. They should also know who the very best DCs out there are, because they go head to head with them.
