re: Football Recruiting & Roster ~ Commitment watch edition
Christian Harris is so slept on by many Bama fans. The kid is coming from a top flight program and had he played LBer at least half the time I think he would've been a five star. The kid's size and athleticism are ideal. I honestly don't feel we missed out on anything by picking up him and Shane Lee.

re: Football Recruiting & Roster ~ Commitment watch edition
His inexperience is really the only thing I can knock him on, guy was out there playing CB at LB size. His talent and athleticism is undeniable.

It's an instance that I wish he was able to enroll early and Bama had a more experienced ILB Coach like a Steele or Smart. Jury is still out on Golding as a position coach, as this is his 2nd year coaching ILBs.

WILL seems very much up for grabs, didn't read anything that made it sound like McMillon had it on lock...

I wonder how long before Henry T is in the transfer portal.

He really did NOT want to sign with utk.

So why do you ignore this year when we have 3 linebackers committed with 2 being in the top 50? You said “like we used to” when we’re doing it now.

I know this but the dude said we’re not loading up at linebacker, not ILB. We’re doing pretty well at All LB positions so far. And the funny part is he picked out a rush edge LB, something we recruit very well.

If Gilding sticks around I think it’ll all work out but I agree with you 100%. Were in a bit of tight spot with depth, talent, and a green coach coaching our ILB’s. Hopefully someone steps up and take WILL. I love our OLB’s though and more secondary experience should help with the front 7.

re: Football Recruiting & Roster ~ Commitment watch edition
WR target Julian Fleming has gotten a streak of CB picks to tOSU. Committing May 31st.

Bama received a CB pick from Bud Elliott(SB Nation) for RB Chris Tyree.

Bama also made the top 4 and the official visit schedule of big Texas WR Troy Omeire.

Really wanted Fleming in this class. We already lost commitments do Burton and Jarrett ,the other two I liked. But there is a long way to signing things might change quite a bit.
Definitely need two elite wideouts this year.

I really hope he picks us. That would be a really good addition to pair with Williams. If we get him, williams, and with sanders from last year we’re just going to keep rolling at RB.

Cobra,

Part of the Process is doing your frickin jib! If you get distracted in other threads and don't do your jib, recruiting suffers; we all suffer!

This is really a good year to sign a 5-star RB, TE, WR and QB with our current roster and who is likely leaving. On defense, LB's should be lining up to sign with Bama. Hope we can gain some good momentum this summer with some big commits, and maybe some of our current commits getting bumps on the camp circuit.

I agree. But don’t tell that to some of the posters on this board.

I've said it before and Ill say it again...

3 and 4 stars from the right regions are often better options than 5 stars from non-SEC regions...

Football is different outside of the southeast. Its not taken as seriously, not coaches as seriously and some states dont even allow spring practice.

I'll take a 3 star wide receiver/defensive back from Dade County over a 4-5 star from California, for example.

re: Football Recruiting & Roster ~ Commitment watch edition
Tide's chances for the top 10 players in Alabama BamaOnLine By Hank South
quote:

So far, so good for the Crimson Tide’s in-state recruiting efforts as Alabama already has four of the state’s top 10 players, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, committed in its 2020 class.

Nick Saban and staff will continue after others within the Yellowhammer State as its another strong year, similar to 2019, within the borders (the Tide holds three additional in-state commitments outside the top 10, all with four-star grades in either the Composite or by 247Sports, in Dazalin Worsham, Jah-Marien Latham and De'Rickey Wright).

Here, BamaOnLine takes a look at the top 10 players per the Composite, and the current chances the Tide has for the said prospect, by assigning a ‘High’, ‘Medium’, or ‘Low’ indicator for each.

No. 10 -- Robby Ashford, 4-star QB, Hoover (Ala.)

Ashford visited Tuscaloosa last summer and then again in the fall for a game, but the Tide has yet to put an offer on the table for the in-state signal caller. Ashford put out a top eight last month, and to no surprise the Tide was not included. Evaluations are always ongoing, but for now it does not appear the Tide is getting involved here.

Chances he ends up at Alabama: Low

No. 9 -- Jackson Bratton, 4-star ILB, Muscle Shoals (Ala.) — Alabama commit

Bratton grew up a fan of Alabama, so it’s no surprise he didn’t wait long to make a commitment last spring. He’s taken visits elsewhere to schools like Texas A&M, Auburn, Ole Miss and Tennessee, but more so to enjoy the recruiting process as opposed to seriously wavering. It’s hard to imagine Bratton not donning Crimson in college when all is said and done, especially considering the need at the position for UA.

No. 8 -- Kristian Story, 4-star ATH, Lanett (Ala.)

Things have been a bit quieter on the Story front this spring after Alabama looked to pull in front for the in-state athlete earlier this year. The four-star athlete — likely to end up at defensive back should he pick Alabama — put out his top five earlier this spring with the Tide included. A one-time Tennessee commit, there’s a lot of signs pointing in UA’s favor with new assistant Charles Kelly recruiting the 6-foot-1, 206-pounder for the Tide. Kelly coached Story’s father at Jacksonville State in the 90s and has a strong relationship with the family. Story is expected back on campus next month and, in my opinion, there’s no reason to believe that if Bama pushes for him that they don’t sit in the best spot.

No. 7 -- Roydell Williams, 4-star RB, Hueytown (Ala.) — Alabama commit

Williams saw a big boost in the 247Sports rankings this offseason after a stellar junior season campaign that saw him rush for over 2,700 yards and 32 touchdowns. Many compare the in-state back to former Tide star Josh Jacobs, and for good reason. The four-star back displays everything you hope to see in a running back prospect, and could certainly continue boosting his stock as a senior. On the recruiting side of things, Williams has said he still plans to use visits elsewhere to schools like Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State, but like the other Tide commits that are still keeping their ears open, he’s locked in with Alabama.

Chances he ends up at Alabama: High

No. 6 -- Quandarrius Robinson, 4-star OLB, Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin

247Sports elevated Robinson to the No. 1 player in the state this offseason as the battle between the Tide and the Tigers, and to some extent Nebraska, heats up for the Birmingham standout. The one-time Auburn commit has visited Tuscaloosa several times this offseason, and the Tide has enjoyed some momentum after hiring Sal Sunseri, a coach Robinson is closer with than any, to the staff. Alabama is sitting in good shape heading into the summer for the 6-foot-5, 217-pounder.

No. 5 -- J.J. Evans, 4-star WR, Montevallo (Ala.) — Auburn commit

Evans made an early pledge to the Tigers this offseason, but still plans to use all five official visits. It comes as no surprise that after nearly breaking the state’s single-season receiving yardage record last fall that schools are still pursuing the four-star talent, Alabama included. It may be too early to make a judgement on where Evans ultimately ends up with his plans to take visits, plus the potential uncertainty with the Auburn coaching staff that’s hinging on the 2019 season.

Chances he ends up at Alabama: Medium-Low

No. 4 -- Malachi Moore, 4-star CB, Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) — Alabama commit

Moore committed to Alabama roughly nine months ago and hasn’t wavered since even despite his primary recruiter and Hewitt-Trussville alum Brent Key leaving for Georgia Tech. Defensive backs coach Karl Scott has stepped in and taken over in Moore’s recruitment. Other schools are still after the four-star corner, but it would be a surprise to see him exit the class.

No. 3 -- E.J. Williams, 4-star WR, Phenix City (Ala.) Central

Williams has drawn comparisons to former Central standout and now Clemson star Justyn Ross. And it’s the Tigers of the ACC the four-star wideout is trending towards at the moment. Williams was adamant with BamaOnLine earlier this spring that he was still considering the Tide, even going as far as saying he loves the program. Still, though, Clemson has the edge in this recruitment as it stands.

Chances he ends up at Alabama: Low

No. 2 -- Jayson Jones, 4-star DT, Calera (Ala.) — Alabama commit

The longtime UA commit plans to use all five official visits elsewhere, but despite that he remains a firm fixture in the Tide’s 2020 class. The in-state defensive tackle recently announced his five official visits would be to Alabama, Florida, Oregon, Michigan and Georgia Tech. Two of those trips have been set — UF on Oct. 5 and Michigan on Nov. 30. It will be an uphill battle to flip the four-star defensive tackle from the Tide’s recruiting class, in my opinion.

No. 1 -- Demouy Kennedy, 4-star OLB, Theodore (Ala.)

Alabama offered the one-time Auburn commit this week. It’s LSU that’s been on top for the Theodore (Ala.) product for a while now. Kennedy has visited Baton Rouge multiple times this spring, including three trips in the month of March. With the Alabama offer in-pocket now, does that change his outlook on the recruiting process? Kennedy hasn’t visited Tuscaloosa in quite a while, but with interest growing from the Tide’s side, expect that to change.
