Financial awareness regarding athletes and NIL money. Do they receive any training?

I’m curious as to whether these athletes get any kind of financial training or guidance regarding NIL money?
Think about it, the vast majority of 17-20 year olds are pretty clueless when it comes to money in general, taxes, and how quickly it can be blown on stupid stuff (fancy cars, women, jewelry, etc).
Yes, it’s their money and they can do what they want with it but some of these kids are receiving 7 figures, which could be life altering money if played right.

I remeber Saban had something setup for financial literacy. Not sure the current status.

I saw a few articles a while back that Regions bank had a group that was going to the SEC schools and holding seminars for the athletes regarding financial literacy in the age of NIL.

My question is. Are these athletes being advised that they will have to pay
the IRS taxes some day? That could be a eye opening experience if they spend all the money and have nothing to pay taxes with.

I’m sure they are. We’re several years deep into NiL at this point and we haven’t heard of any athlete having IRS issues so I’m sure some education is in place.
If not they can just sell their Porsche and Hublot and pay the tax bill and still be fine.

I think this is only a concern for the school in this climate as a way to avoid them becoming over-leveraged and turning to gambling or worse (point shaving).
Back in the Saban days he was trying to prepare future nfl players for adult life after UA. These guys are already millionaires. They have enough money to figure it out themselves.
