Probably alone in this, but I never enjoy the Iron Bowl. In fact, I hate it. Been burnt out on it since 2013, because we always stand to lose way more than we gain in these games. They ruin our seasons by beating good teams, but we only beat bad Auburn teams that know they're going to lose coming in. Not very satisfying, not a good risk/reward. To really get revenge, we need to rip their hearts out by dramatically beating a good team like they did to us in 10, 13, 17 and/or go on a long winning streak. Until one of those happens, the Iron Bowl will just be something I endure, rather than enjoy.

1999 game was the best for me. Shaun Alexander running all over their arse was just so satisfying. And when he broke that last TD run I remember hollering for the Barn fans to GTFO this was finally our house! I bought, and still have, one of those paper signs with the score on it. As I was walking out of the stadium I was holding it over my head. I remember some Barn fan looking at me and saying the trailer park is that way. I just held the sign up!
2001 was fun too. I remember at the end of the game some AU chic was giving a Bama fan some shite about he probably didn't even know the fight song. He layed it on her arse and said Honey I graduated in whatever year it was, my Dad went to UA and my two sons are there now. She just walked off. As he walked by I shook that guys hand and said nicely done!
I was there in 2009 as well but I was a nervous wreck for most of that game. By the time it ended I was more relived than anything.

1992 Iron Bowl for me, the one where John Copeland destroyed Stan White (I hate that whiny little bitch), on the sack.
I was a senior at Georgia Tech at the time and we played Georgia on Saturday, but since this game was on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, Coach Lewis allowed a few of us to go to it.

The 85 Iron Bowl was the first one I went to. My grandparents took me, and we were packing up to leave when the final drive looked like it was going to putter out. I'm glad we stayed.
Went to almost every one through the 90's. Our first win there in 99 was fun, though I spent the 1st 3 quarters thinking we were gong to lose. The safety flipped the game for us, then Alexander took over.

1985 the Kick. I was a freshman at BAMA.
1992 Thanksgiving massacre. BAMA retires Pat Dye in disgrace.

Has anybody mentioned Siran Stacey prior to the 2008 game yet? Incredible. When I think of Iron Bowl moments that comes to mind before the ‘85 or ‘96 endings. He’s an absolute legend.

96 was kind of agonizing. We jumped out to an early lead, only to let them come back and control most of the game. Ended well, but man there was some anxiety in the student section for much of the game.

2008 was like getting home from prison with a steel hard-on and slamming the hottest chick in town cross eyed.

1996 - Riddle swing pass for the win. My first real in person Iron Bowl memory. It was awesome.
My favorite moment hands down. Last football game I ever went to with my brother. He died the next February.
My first Iron Bowl was 1992.

I didn't go to the game but 1990 was pretty memorable. We beat the streak. A 52 year old Byron Holdbrooks decleated Stan White.
Recreated Phillip Doyle's kick and high step in my backyard for about a month.

1999 because I was in the stands. Alexander with three TDs in the second half.
I passed up a trip to the game in 2001. I would like to have a mulligan on that one.

a guy i grew up with is an auburn fan. he's also a quadriplegic that gets around pretty good in his chair. we were talking the summer prior to the '92 cahmpionship season. i asked him if he'd ever been to the iron bowl, he said no. so i got us tickets in the handicap seating area. it just so happened that we were almost straight in line with antonio langhams interception return. he ran into the endzone right below us. he wasnt real happy, but i was. my buddy loved the experience except the outcome. i will always remember that day.

I agree with Crimson Crusade. It's not a fun game to watch. We are SUPPOSED to win. When we don't, it makes their season, even if the mother frickers are 1-11. If they don't, it's oh well, wait till next year. They have successfully ripped my heart out multiple times. We rarely return the favor. Being underdogs to them is rare enough; to successfully upset them in that instance is much rarer than a natty for us. So, no, I don't enjoy it unless we are curb stomping them like a rented mule.
I enjoyed The Kick. It is forever etched in my mind. That was the greatest drive against the longest odds I've ever witnessed. Ditto on Wrong Way Bo. The fact that I played high school ball with his dumb arse and thought that was karma come home to roost was sweet. Those moments are rare. Much more common is Punt, Bama, Punt, the Fullback Screen, The tightrope fumble, and of course, the Kick Six. Wins conjured up with the damnedest luck or deal with the devil I've ever seen. I've endured them all. And they are SUCH sore winners. They NEVER let it go or let you forget. So I hate them. I hate them worse than I should ever admit. Harvey was too kind. He should have used a chainsaw to carve a script A deep in those fricking trees and made them choose whether to leave them standing with our logo etched in them or cut them down themselves.
So I approach Saturday with nervous angst and trepidation. Once again our beloved Bama stands on the threshold of greatness. Once again, Auburn can ruin it for us all. This is what they live for. It's right in their wheelhouse. We must once again face our demons and vanquish them. If this team isn't destined to win it all, if we are fated to lose to UGA or Clemson, so be it, we gave it a helluva run. I won't be happy, but I can live with it. But if we let those mother fricking wannabes from across the state or those damn golden domed Irish spoil our year, I will seethe with rage for revenge until next season. This is like a tooth extraction: let's just get it over with. If we can obliterate them and it's 50-0, I can relax and enjoy it. Otherwise, I am waiting for that godforsaken Auburn luck to rear its ugly head.
