I was at that game. It was miserable for 58 minutes and as soon as the game was over, I was nothing but relieved and immediately started thinking about Florida.

My wife (then fiance) did not want to go at all, hated going over there. For 58 minutes every 3 plays I got a "I told you I was never coming back here. You did that". Then the game ended and we were just like you. Man the prior 6 were so fresh in our minds back then, it all came rushing back for 58 minutes.

Was awesome because we could've picked our score but I'm still salty about not scoring 50.

Yea, I honestly as hoping after 2010 that we would score 70 points.

Upsets rarely happen in the series and when they do, it's usually Auburn that's pulling off the upset. Even in those games, Auburn was probably the better team....except for 2002. We could have a entire thread about that game and how I'm 100% in the camp that Fran threw that game in order to make it easier for him to go to A&M.

My uncle hunts with the Britt boys. To this day the Britts swear up and down that they did almost no "Auburn specific" prep work that week. They didn't do anything specific scheme wise. They just ran practice like they would the week of North Texas or MTSU. They knew they were in trouble walking into the stadium that day.

there was about a 20 minute span where I had a weakness and questioned Saban's coaching ability as well where football ranked in the priorities in my life.

Oh I know that 20 minute period

2nd qtr, 0:54 left : Sammie Coates 68 yd TD pass from Nick Marshall (23-21 AU)

3rd qtr, 14:10 left : Blake Sims pass intercepted Jonathan Jones return for 4 yards to Alab 39

3rd qtr, 11:02 left : Quan Bray 5 yard TD pass from Nick Marshall (33-21 AU)

After that TD I immediately was 100% convinced everything was over.

I had to take a long arse walk around the neighborhood at halftime to clear my head after that first half of the 2014 Iron Bowl.

I've heard those stories. I've even heard that Fran was late and/or didn't even show to team meetings throughout the week. I'm sure the stats will prove me wrong, but I think we went for an unusual amount of 4th Downs and the playcalling was suspect.

Granted, that Auburn team was better than their record indicated but there's no reason Tre Smith should've run up and down on us that day. None. We were playing as well as anyone in the country coming into that game and were solid on both sides of the ball. Yet we came out absolutely lifeless and could only muster up 1 touchdown.

Fran knew all year that he was leaving. Hell, he almost went to Kansas the year before. I think he made the deal with A&M privately weeks, maybe even months before. He was such a calculating and deceptive person, that it would fit his m.o. to throw the Iron Bowl in order to create a little backlash so he could be seen as justified for abandoning the team.

Fran is to this day the man, not including boosters, who I despise most from the entire dark era. And that will never, ever change.

I understand that he was probably slightly misled on the severity of the probation coming down the pipe, but to just throw those kids who had sacrificed everything to the wolves for his own self interest after promising them he was there with them - fvck that guy. He got everything he deserved.

I don't blame him for having any ill will over that, but he had a lot of support from the fans. He was arguably more celebrated than any other coach in the time between Bryant and Saban. Fran would've been given a pass during the inevitable tough seasons that were ahead. Hell, people weren't even that upset at him immediately after the loss to Auburn. Yet he was looking to leave the minute he got here despite the Hold The Rope crap.

He's a snake and considering his shotty recruiting and the way things worked out, it's probably a good thing that he didn't stick around. Fran is a prime example of why you don't hire a coach who's never seen one of his own recruits graduate. He was a fraud.

Absolutely right.

Yea, total fraud, and his future results played that out.

In summation, fvck that guy.

Back on the subject though, the 1994 game is really underrated. The Toderick Malone TD is one of my favorite plays.

2008 and especially when Mcelroy threw that long pass for a TD in the 4th quarter already up 29-zip. That was a right to Tubernuts.

I don't think I would rank any Iron Bowl I've attended in my Top 5 favorite games.

The 2008 Iron Bowl is there for me. Everything about that day was freaking electric. Inside the stadium, with how low the clouds were, you got the sense that we were on top of Mount Olympus watching a team made up of ancient Greek gods take the field against Auburn. When Siran Stacy went wild after the coin toss, you got the sense that this was it. This was the game that broke the streak. I just knew right then and there that there was no way Alabama was losing that game. That Rammer Jammer was easily the most satisfying one I have ever participated in.

My dad loves nothing more than yelling "I WAXED THE DUDE" during the Tradition video.

Don't forget the '98 game, the last one played at Legion Field. AU took a 17-0 lead before Shaun Alexander took this one to the house to give Bama the lead.

Shaun Alexander

Yep - agree. As Fairhope said earlier, it was a bloodletting half a decade in the making.

Yea, but that game started with 3-7 Auburn going up 17-0 with Damon Duval running the power I with a 180 lb running back.

I thought I was going to throw up.

Among the favorites have to be Van Tiffin’s Kick and 2008 sticking 36 points up Tub’s arse and those seniors finally getting a win over Auburn.

Worst in recent memory....2010 of course, but we had already lost to South Carolina and LSU and any chance at the NC was gone.

Punt Bama Punt sucked, but I was only 7. It did make me hate Pat Sullivan and Beasley for years (I later came to respect Sullivan).

Worst feeling after loss.... 2013 Kick Six. Having a watch party at my sister’s and bro-in-laws. Drinking, having a good time, whooping and hollering and pacing around, just knew we’d pull it out in OT even if the FG missed. Then Davis took it to the house.

We sat in stunned silence for a few minutes. A few quiet “WTF just happened?” were uttered. Five minutes later, we turned the lights out and everybody either went home or went to bed.

ETA: The 49-0 curb stomping in 2012 was very satisfying. It could have been 99-0 and I wish it had been.

My favorite was '96 because I was there. There were people settling up bets (who had picked AU to win) and leaving the stands behind me in the middle of the 4th. I was drenched from all the cups thrown after the final TD. My clothes smelled like I had taken a bath in beer and whiskey. Even though, alcohol was not allowed in the stadium.

Least favorite was the Kick 6 Iron bowl much like everyone else's. I live in Texas and it was the first Iron bowl I had gotten to get back to Alabama and watch on TV with my dad in probably 10 years. So yeah, that alone sucked, but the the very next morning when we woke up my dad got a call that his brother had died. I will never not be able to relate the two events due to that. But it did put that game in perspective for me.

Coach Bryant broke Amos Alonzo Staggs record in the 1981 Iron Bowl thanks to two big Linnie Patrick runs in a close 4th quarter. RTR!
