the bear used to swift kick on 3rd down when the team was deep in their own end of the field in lieu of running a safe run up the middle then kick on 4th down

If Alphonse Taylor starts at RG, Alabama's starting offensive line will average 6-5.2, 312.2 pounds.

Is that weight right? Pretty sure Piersbacher and Kelly are under 300, wouldn't that bring it down more?

I'll check.

Jackson: 315
Taylor: 325 (oh I thought he weighed less, this probably makes it right)
Kelly: 297
Piersbacher: 298
Robinson: 326
Total: 1,561

1561/5 = 312.2

Yep. Yeah I didn't know Taylor weighed 325. For some reason I thought he was like 310.

Alec Morris got some love today AND Saban got his name right.

The guy must've had a good day.

Saban mentions freshman Shawn Burgess-Becker as a guy who has done a nice job on special team.

I noticed Saban had said Alec.

If Coker and Morris both play vs Wisconsin, it'll be interesting to see how that goes. Morris is apparently the better decision maker and takes care of the ball more, but Coker has more big play potential. With this defense you'd probably wanna go with the guy who produces the least amount of TOs. That said some games may be close anyway because we probably play the toughest schedule in CFB and we need someone who can make the plays to win the game.

Hopefully both can. I don't know if either can right now, but I'm excited to find out.

Based on what that capstonekid (TIFWIW) guy was saying:

CBs: Cyrus Jones and Marlon Humphrey
Star: Minkah Fitzpatrick

That's awesome. TB's injury probably played a part, but I thought Marlon was better coming out. I didn't think he'd pass TB, who had some experience, but here we seemingly are. Hopefully TB gets some quality reps if he doesn't start.

With Geno/Eddie at the Safeties positions and Maurice Smith seemingly playing Money in Dime, where does that leave Ronnie Harrison? Despite his hype, it seems he hasn't won a starting job yet. Safety signal calling duties may be a reason for that. Does he beat out one of them (I'd guess Geno, but just guessing) at some point during the season? From the opener when we go Dime does one of them come out and Ronnie comes in to play Deep Safety?

If tony brown gets past by humphrey and fitzpatrick he could very conceivably make the switch to safety down the road ala eddie jackson. Brown is a big hard hitting guy

Nah, I think he's got too much CB potential. Cyrus is a Senior, TB can either start at CB again next year with Minkah still at Star, or Minkah can play CB and TB can play Star.

I mean, he'd make a great Safety, sure, I just think he's got way more potential at CB than Safety or Star. Though my opinion doesn't really mean anything.

yes, but when you have so many good cbs, you want to get your best guys all on the field. We havent even seen sheffield. Tb would make a hell of a coverage safety

And we still have Hootie in the mix for safety.

Read somewhere today that CNS stated Cyrus is the primary returnman with Black as the back up. A little disappointed it won't be one of the younger guys. Cyrus had some ball security issues as a returnman a couple years ago IIRC

Cyrus looked like a better returner than Christion, when he held onto the ball. So, I'll reserve judgement until he muffs another one. But this kind of blows y'all's theory about not putting critical guys back there out of the water. I'm no coach, but our choices for return men have been headscratching to me.

Coming out of spring practice it appeared that Cornwell was #2 behind Coker. Then something happened and he fell out of sight; Saban didn't even mention him after the second scrimmage. Boz, a poster on Roll Tide Bama, said that Cornwell got drunk at a local bar and exposed himself. When asked if he was kidding Boz said no, that's what happened. If this is true, it's no wonder Cornwell has been buried.

From a guy who was supposedly at the scrimmage. TIFWIW:

@ShutdownMan @Decafinator @CubeShow I respect your opinion SDM but I disagree. Out of the 20 passes I saw JC throw yesterday 2 were good.

He also said none of the QBs really stood out.

He also thinks we will go 9-3 this year. I guess our offense was that bad.
