You're probably right early in the season...but by the Florida game, he was pretty spot on with the long ball for the rest of that season...

Oh yeah go back and watch the VT game that year.

We didn't play Virginia Tech in 2014...if you're talkin' 'bout West Virginia that was the first game of the year and Florida was game #4...

He had the following 30+ yard TD passes that season:

52, 39 Fl Atl
87, 79 UF
45, 41 A&M
80, 41 UT
39, 75 AU
58 Mizzou

I think the 41 yarder against A&M was a screen or flair to Henry but most of the others were bombs. He also had several 20+ yard TD passes along with several more 40+ that were not TDs. He was one of the better long ball passers we've had at Bama...

The play was sort of a fluke, but it most certainly was a bad throw. Plain and simple. Najee was wide open. I'm not even saying that it was all Mac's fault because he had a guy in his face and was just trying to get it out. But it was indeed a bad throw.

I thought it was a great throw. Like you mentioned he unloaded early because he was staring down a blitzing defender.

I've heard coaches say 'when throwing the ball 3 things can happen... two of them are bad'. This was the absolute worst. Bounces off our player's back and into the waiting hands of a defender, who then runs it back the length of the field?

Also, In my mind (and NOT a knock on the beast known as Najee), if it had been almost any of the other receivers they may have already glanced back, stopped and possibly caught the ball.

Could have been a 14 point swing.
