How and why is Muschamp is making 300K a year as referenced in that link? It has been widely reported that analysts make along the lines of 45K a year. Or will Muschamp have more of a role than an analyst.

Well he basically delivered them a 5* QB and there was no offset language or duty to mitigate in his USCjr contract, so he had a lot of leverage to negotiate because he didn't "need" a job to get all that money.

I suspect the latter. He is a great DC and is really the one who made Steele look good at auburn. Will got them back on track and Steele had his recruits for quite a while to rely on. Kirby is grasping at anything to prevent himself from becoming Mark and eventually being let go, but you can't blame him. I would have liked to seen him replace our DC..... still not sold on Pete.

At one time Bama had upwards to 75 analysts. Prove me wrong

I think the most we ever had was 74. So, you're wrong. Once, I heard that our analysts could have assistants; that must be what your thinking.

This just isn't true at all.

Will Muschamp was DC at Auburn for one season. He was hired 12-14-2015 and took the USCe job on 12-6-2016.

Their defensive signees in 2/2016 were:

Marlon Davidson - Stud player
Derrick Brown - Stud player
Antwuan Jackson - Never played at AU. Ended up at tOSU.
John Broussard - Played in a few games over 2 years at AU. Transferred to Memphis.
Nick Coe - Solid player but never lasted a complete season.
Paul James - Played in a few games over 2 years at AU.
Marlon Character - Never played at Auburn. Ended up at Louisville.
Jayvaughn Myers - Played in 1 game at AU. Quit the team.
Tre Threat - Played on special teams at AU, transferred to Jacksonville State.
Tashawn Manning - Signed as a DT, converted to OL.
Daniel Thomas - Solid player.

So, as you can see, Muschamp brought in a couple of real studs and a couple more very good players, but Kevin Steele fielded solid defenses at Auburn for 5 years. Those 4 guys Boom brought in were helpful but in no way did Steele rely on Boom recruits for his success. He earned that on his own merits.

I tend to agree. Gus doesn't seem like a good fit.

Saban allowed Butch Jones to develop into a beloved figure on the Alabama sideline. I’ll pretty much believe anything at this point.

Seeing Gus with Alabama gear on might be as entertaining as the NC.

Davidson committed to Auburn 3 months before Muschamp came and his brother was on Auburn's staff. Not sure you credit Muschamp with much there.

Derrick Brown probably a product of being on Awbarns recruiting gravy train than anything else. I remember he was hanging out at Pat Dye's ranch/farm during summers before his enrollment.

Honestly I think Malzahn "secret" to beating Alabama was the luxury of playing them last game of the season. Injuries, fatigue, some players hitting a wall and simply not playing as well. Most of Sabans losses have come late in the year.

This coupled with the fact of how the two teams approach the game. Saban understands it is a rival, but they approach it as the next game, next one up on our way to the play offs.

Auburn views this game as their play-off, their whole world, everything they hope for. Case in point when AU beat us a few years ago and we still won the Natty.
