The number went down likely due to Tennessee winning. I wouldn't put much stock in it.

Or they think USCe is more deserving. Dunno

And every team in the playoffs will be better than Oklahoma and Vanderbilt. I'd rather we not embarrass ourselves more than we have already this year.
The words of a chronic fricking dumdum. It's never an embarrassment to make the playoff man, no matter the outcome.
The embarrassment is not making it.

We need Miami to win the game.
Posted on 11/30/24 at 6:51 pm to ReauxlTide222
Not sure about that.
We either need Texas to win tonight or Georgia win the SECCG.
Georgia winning the SECCG helps us.
ACC is looking like a 1 bid league atm.

ETA: who would downvote this on a “Bama” board. You “we dont deserve it!” pussies need to stop watching altogether.
These dudes aren't actually Alabama fans.
They have to be trolls or bandwagoners who jumped on with Saban train.

Ridiculous that teams like Miami and Indiana are “playoff” teams having beaten ZERO ranked teams
Posted on 11/30/24 at 6:58 pm to YStar
Eh, they are kind of right but not for their reasons.
IMO, there aren’t 12 “deserving” teams in all of cfb based on any criteria that fans are used to.
This shite may turn in to a yearly occurrence for all of football.
Saban would have dominated a 12 team playoff as well.
fricking NIL and transfers.

According to ESPN, Bama’s playoff chances went down with South Carolina beating Clemson.
The problem is the Miami loss, which put Clemson in the ACC title game.
Bama jumps a 3 loss Clemson that's sitting at home next week with ease, but now they've got chance at the automatic bid which means Bama would have to jump a 2 loss Miami or a 2 loss SMU whose second loss was in a conference title game.
Now the Pony Express needs to ride hard and fast.

I think the Miami loss sealed the deal. They aren’t putting us in over them. We needed Clemson to lose, Miami to win today and the ACC championship game so we could jump SMU. I don’t see how we get to 11 now.

I don’t think A&M or Texas winning matters as long as Georgia wins the SEC. 4-loss A&M is out no matter what. Texas is probably in no matter what. They would only have two losses either way. Worst case is A&M winning the SEC because Georgia won’t get left out.

If LSU wins, they will probably be ranked at 8-4

Looks like SMU is in either way and once of Miami/Clemson is in.
Plus the avoids the debate of the three loss teams. We are out

You can bet 100 to win 35,000 on Miami right now to win the NC on FanDuel. I don’t think they’re going to be in.

Exactly. Vegas is confident we will be ahead of Miami in this week’s playoff rankings.
Only thing that could throw a wrench would be Clemson beating SMU (which could easily happen unfortunately). But even then, it’s a question if the committee would put SMU in or just make the ACC a 1-bid league.

If LSU is ranked then bama would have 4 top 25 wins. I don't think no other team has that not even Oregon. Bama would probably slide in at around 11or 12. I don't trust milroe in a road game at a big ten team in cold weather but we might get our chance to see.

Clemson is 9-3. I know the line “they won’t penalize a team for losing a conference title game” mantra, but if Clemson isn’t in that game they aren’t making the playoffs at all. If they lose tho SMU - particularly if it isn’t close - I don’t see how they get in with 4 losses and on a 2 game losing streak. It may not be Bama, but someone is jumping them for the last spot.

Half the board was using this logic a couple days ago, now that it doesn’t apply to us it isn’t sound? Clemson could wind up with a bye.

It wasn’t sound when they were using it a couple of days ago. As shown last year when FSU got left out (as they should have been), after the automatic bids the playoff committee is going to pick who they think deserves it. A 4 loss Clemson team with 0 wins vs ranked teams ain’t gonna be on that list even with a title game appearance.
If they win, then they get the automatic bid when otherwise they’d be left out. Bama’s now where we used to be in hoops hoping for an at large bid. Can’t have a conference tourney upset.

There’s a huge difference in using that logic for the SEC championship and the ACC championship. The SEC is going to have at least 3 teams in the playoff. The ACC is hoping for 2.
