Is Freddie’s player development, the DC change, or something else the reason our DLine has looked better than it has in 5-6 years? Ebogbie, Keenan, and Oatis have been killer. The other guys like Payne have been playing well too.

I think it is the change in DC. We've went bigger up front (Oatis-Keenan-Ebiogbe) and it is paying dividends for the linebackers. The linemen aren't getting moved around as much so the linebackers at meeting the tailback in the hole more often. We're doing far fewer end-tackle twists that led to our best edge rushers getting ate up by 300+ lb linemen. Will Anderson would've already had 10 sacks in 6 games in this system.

Guessing it's the Steele change, and with that change, we're utilizing our DL better

Little of column A, little of column B. I am wondering if Roach was so maligned by some of us because Golding's obsession with stunting and insistence on being "creative" with first round edge rushers had them too confused to be effective.

That’s what I think as well. Maybe Freddie wasn’t the problem. Our Dline play was a symptom of our garbage DC.

Crazy to think this dline looks like it is full of playmakers and Golding had these guys looking like pansies. Tim Smith has made himself some money and Keenan has been playing out of his mind

Sure seems like it. Either that or the light came on for like 5 guys this offseason.

Don’t forget Tim Smith either. He’s been playing really well.

Aggies O line is not great but our front still handled business. Complete domination in the 2nd half.

Pretty sure somebody’s going to accuse y’all of being Freddy apologists and comparing you to people who supported BOB and Golding.

Just rewatched the game last night…..Tim Keenan is a fricking grown man. Best interior Lineman we have had since Quinnen IMO

Def think Steele has a hand in it

People forget it was his defense at Auburn that held that 2019 LSU team to 23 pts and the DL was largely responsible for that

Steele is using two gap d-line function witha short area slant every now and then. The ocasional slants keep the oline a little back in their stance sothe two gap play can be at the LoS instead of twoyards down field.

Freddie is teaching what he was teaching before he came to Alabama but now it is useful. Steele got the crap out of the way so Freddie could coach push and hand fighting.

Golding looks worse and worse each week. This defense isn't as talented as last year's and yet they look liked invading Vikings on every passing down for TAMU.

Noticed the slants multiple times Saturday. Didn't remember seeing us do that in a long time.

I don't know about that last part. Barmore and Mathis were both really good. I bet Keenan is the strongest guy on the team though. You just can't move him without a double team, which is always the sign of a great nose tackle. He was giving the Aggy center and left guard fits all afternoon. And he's still athletic enough to be disruptive in the backfield if he gets an angle to exploit. Definitely another diamond in the rough recruit who lost his baby fat and found his man body in college like Quinnen though. He will also play on Sundays.

Agree. We are turning into a nasty group on D. I love it.

This group plus Anderson. A shame how we had one of the best edge rushers in program history and the defensive line underperformed. If we had Anderson this year….wow.
