That’s what I’m trying to say. If Smitty tipped it then Ruggs wouldn’t have been the first to touch it and the TD would have still counted. Not positive Smitty tipped it, but it looked tipped to me.

Having watched the replay of that pass several times it seemed to me that Jones was throwing to Riggs all the way and Devanta just got in the way by getting a little deeper than the designed route.

It could be worse... I missed the bulk of the first quarter and was relying on ESPN gamecast. They flashed the play up as pass to ruggs for -14 and a safety, score 3-2. By the time I arrived at my destination, jeudy just scored on his 14 yarder to go up to 17-0 late 1st quarter. I was very confused upon arrival. Glad to hear there was an on field issue to go with the experience I got.

Goddards whole body was in bounds. He was laying on the ground with the ball and they called it out. To bad they didnt have instant replay back then. Sports Illustrated had a picture of the Penn state end zone where in bounds catches had been made, but were call out. There was a big chunk of their end zone taken out by Preston's catch.

Mac admitted in an interview he was throwing to Smith.
