Confession/Observation about the LSU/Bama Game

Last Saturday I woke up with a terrible feeling about the game. I was already in the middle of a weekend-long hunting trip that was planned for months out, but I tentatively also planned on being back at the camp house to watch the game prior to Saturday morning. I went with my gut after waking up that morning, and opted to go hunting rather than watch the game, which paid off in my favor as I punched a tag on buck that afternoon. So there is my confession, maybe the first "big" game for Alabama I've not watched in memory.
I got back in the truck, turned on the radio and heard the score (39-27 at the time), which came as no real shock or surprise to me due to my premonition. I didn't watch a second of the rest of the game, as I had business to handle in taking care of the deer I killed.
I've since had a chance to watch highlights of the game, a few noteworthy plays and moments in the game, etc. I've read all kinds of arguments and explanations for why Alabama lost. I've heard Tua didn't play well, that Alabama made uncharacteristic mistakes, that the game boiled down to just a handful of plays, they were close to winning.
The bottom line for me, based on what I have seen is this -
The defense is complete, bitter, sour, unwashed arse. The worst since 2007 by a mile.
Finally, LSU's offense and Joe Burrow in particular are extremely good. His accuracy is other-worldly.
It was a recipe made for disaster for this 2019 Alabama team, and the result would be the same 9/10 if the 2 teams met again.
That is all, have a good one.

It’s all your fault. You jinxed us. Thanks

That's a lot of typing to tell us our defense is a liability.
Several games it's been clear that the defense has issues.
From letting Tennessee play well to giving up a garbage score in almost every game has been quite the harbingers of what we all feared was going to happen Saturday.
And it won't change. If we play another offense this year that has their shite together, expect another 40+ points to be dropped on Bama

Nah, these teams are pretty close and neither one are 9 out of 10 type better than the other. If you would have watched the game you would have seen that. Alabama's defense is what is and LSU's offense would probably have similar success against them each time they played, but Alabama's offense/special teams committed a couple of egregious and totally unforced errors that aren't normally going to happen which easily could be the difference between winning and losing between two teams that are very close.

Without a doubt this is Nick's worst defensive team since 2007. The talent level is down otherwise 8,35,36,5,7,21 wouldn't be starting. 48 is average along with 94 and 92 at this point. 99 is average. Hell 33 and 24 are the tops dogs and they shite the bed for the most part on Saturday. 2 is near good but no way elite. The best player we have is 15. (defense)

I guess I'm in the minority. For around 90% of the game, I thought the defense played well enough to win. We knew this defense wasn't elite, and would need the offense to bail them out some this season, and I don't think the offense bailed them out. Or better said, they put the defense in really tough positions and LSU took advantage every single time. 3 and outs in critical situations, a bad INT at the end of the 1st half, uncharacteristic fumble, mishandled snap on a punt, etc.

They gave up 30+ points in 1 half of football. That is absurd.

They most certainly did not. They were in the backfield almost all game. Unfortunately they were often a 1/2 second late and Burrow was able to get rid of it before they got to him. You have to tip your hat to Burrow there.

I'm not saying they played great, because they did not. I'm saying they played well enough to win for most of the game. 14 of those 33 first half points came on short fields because of a bad INT and a fumbled snap on a punt.

we never really hit Burrow. Not once. I wanted to see Barmore hit him right in the chest and drive him into the turf. After that, if he's still dropping dimes, then he's the warrior they claim he is. Until then, he's just a cocky QB.

when you get in the backfield the object is to make the play! As of today they don't get points for getting into the backfield.

Agree with most of that. But not this:
I thought we came out with a shite game plan and executed it like shite in the first half. I think if they played 10 times, it'd be 5/5 with both offenses scoring at will. LSU definitely outplayed us in that game, but a lot of it was unforced errors by Bama.

Joe hit a lot of wide arse open receivers in the game. We have a big 12 def. I think he made a couple of good throws but a lot of them I think and good qb could of made. I think the talent LSU makes him seem better than what he is against us at least.

I found it rather shocking but telling that they went at Diggs all night long. Didn't target Surtain as much, but they looked up #7. Secondary was supposed to be our strength and he is one of the veterans back there. Trevon had a horrible night and appears to actually have regressed this season. The guy didn't just forget how to cover, something is wrong. Changes have to be made.

This is dumb. LSU has had that similar talent for over a decade now and they haven't been able to put up numbers like they have this season. One reason is their hire of Brady, but another is Burrow. He's a great QB that played a great game against us. Not sure why some can't seem to admit that. We'd be rightfully singing Tua's praises had he put up similar numbers in victory.
